I know what I was getting into with selection boxes and didnt expect much, but this year was appauling. The biggest symphony Men Shaun box I had was crap! The fountains were short and quiet, the mines weedy, the rockets had very little noise, colour or size. Even they very large head rockets were shoddy and quite frankly pants! The barrages fizzled and struggled to rise with a large amount burning on the floor after a 2ft rise. I could go on and on :(

I would advise everyone to avoid them in future and if anyone from Epic is reading this... why? You have a great range which is spoilt by that load of crap! Dont do it again lol!!

agreed, some of the fountains were alright but the rest was pretty naff, did you have the "guy fawkes" display pack? its what i got, the rockets included were some of the worst ive ever had, the supreme rockets which came FREE out performed them by far.

nevermind.... will know better for next year.....brothers companion for me i think, thats had good reviews :)

That is a brilliant rocket pack- Epics own brand.
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

MenShun rockets are all poor post 2007.

As for Epic selling their rubbish selection boxes, I guess this is down to the massive profit they probably make on them! JTF were selling the top box £99rrp for £15 last December!

you bought a box containing 46 fireworks for £49.95 , what did you expect it to contain ? LOL and it was menshun as as well , no disrespect to them but they are known as a cheap and cheerful brand to begin with, its a box for back gardens and dads with kids etc not really ideal for pyro enthusiasts or anyone "in the know" for want of a better term

stick to brothers companion and sos :-) both excellent boxes

There are some good selection boxes out there, for sure- I think Black Cat's Atlas was very good- a genuine selection, too- a mix of fountains, comets, whistles, some small bursts, and combinations- all Cat 2! Also Cosmic do (or did do) some good selectoions, and Kimbolton has a very good reputation.

Lets see, I thought it might contain a six pack of larger a stripper and new car!! Duh, I think you missed my point right before you decided to be smug! They were poor for a selection box, poorer than other boxes not a cake or SIB. I knew what I was buying and what I expected and they didnt even come close to even what I would consider to be selection box level!

sorry wasnt being smug mate ...

its fairly obvious a box of 46 fireworks even at full rrp of £100 isnt going to be great value as its £2 per firework or there abouts and theres 2 or even 3 profit margins in that price , i dont know any decent fireworks available for that price in fact youd be hard pressed to get a pack of portfires for that kind of money , even the menshun barrages are classed as cheap and cheerfull compared to other brands such as Cube or Kimbolton so its going to be even more worse for the selection box material they use

Sorry it just seems like people are quick to say, what did you expect etc etc but not fully understand my point that the box was bad even for a selection box, which I already expected to be just light filler for the younger kids. Yes its fairly obvious that it was going to be not as good as a barrage but that is my whole point, it was FAR WORSE than any selection box I have ever had and I've had some bad Panda and DRD boxes that still outperformed this one.

I've learnt my lesson anyway, I wont bother with a box next year I will buy individual mines, fountains and wheels for my filler.
