I would like to knock some up, I will probably use salicylic acid and barium hydroxide or carbonate. I know there different possible reaction products given different reaction conditions. Does anyone have any information on the best conditions for the reaction?
I will be interested how this compound performs in coloured report compositions maybe a Barium Chlorate / MgAl / Barium Salicylate mix. What do you think?

Just a straight google throws up interesting things. Unusually emolecules.com does not this time
It certainly does, however I still have not found any data on physical properties such as a solubility curve, hygroscopicicty, even details on synthesis are sketchy.

I've only played with strontium salts of benzene carboxylic acids, but from those tests would guess that solubility is pretty minimal. I'd be wary of mixing with KClO3 such mixtures seem to be fiendishly sensitive - get in touch if you want more info.
I will get in touch shortly.
The only info I can get is that it is somwhere above 30g per 100ml of water at 20ÂșC. The reason I ask is (other than is is usable) because I want it in solution so that I can filter any unused reactants before crystalisation. I suppose when I have isolated it I can knock up a solubility curve.
