Hi all
I need to make it look as though bullets have been fired into a flipchart at the front of a large lecture theatre (apparently from a [toy] pistol 5 metres away across the stage).

The plan is to have something under the top sheet of paper that fires through making it look like a bullet hit. I spoke to the Le Maitre rep & she suggested half load microdets, but I think these might be too powerful, plus a little large to hide under the paper.
I thought about De la Mare D80 bullet hits, but these have proved hard to locate (and do they need an explosives licence?)

Any ideas how I could achieve this effect?

thanks
Nick

A flipchart is thick and sturdy so you have room to "prepare it" BUT how far away are your people likely to be. It's easy to prepare and fire a hit in a thick board concealed behind a sheet of paper. NOT so easy to ensure that there is no injury risk.

I believe this website sells a `non fragmental microdot` for stage effects, ask them for advice on what you are trying to achieve!.

Assuming that you are in the UK (please put some detail in your profile) Any Le Maitre distributor will supply you with 1227 A or B microdets which MAY be suitable. The only way to see of they will be suitable is to do tests in a realistic manner.

The big hazard is "will there be anyone near the flipchart at the time" there has to be a safety distance with NO-ONE inside before you can fire anything. For performance art it is essential to determine the safety distance and observe it when firing.

Thanks for your reply - what I had in mind was for the effect to be only beneath one sheet of the chart paper, ie the top sheet
