I didn't notice this until recently, but Epic's prices are now priced so that it is less than half the RRP INCLUDING Vat. Top stuff! Previously it was sometimes half the RRP plus VAT. I'm glad they have done this, too, as it didn't seem right for them to be claiming "Half Price or Less" when it was really Half price plus VAT.

So yeah- thats great news because it means stuff is a bit cheaper.

Great shop, well worth checking out!

Has anyone been to Epic recently? I think there is talk of them moving away from Batley, to a larger site, but I'm not sure when that is- I think sometime soon. I'll miss Batley! I liked that place a lot.

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

I heard they were moving to Barnsley or somewere, hope it works out for them. I would go to Epic for New Year stuff but it's to far for just a few things.

Thats great news for me, much closer as I work a few miles from Barnsley. I think its also beneficial for them to move a bit further south so theyre more central in the country, might tempt more people to make the drive up from london if they cut a few miles off the journey. I know its only 20 miles but it might help...

If they do make the move I'll definately be buying a few 'display fillers' from them to fire between some of my bigger stuff.

Yeah, me too- I tend to travel over to Epic if I have a bigger order (or if I just fancy a trip to Yorkshire!) That said, they have never insisted on a minimum spend with me. ^_^

I'm hoping to nip in to Epic on Boxing Day to pick up a couple of pieces to thrill the family. I'll see what the Epic folks have to say about the move, but as I only live up the road I'm hoping it's all wishful Barnsley thinking.

I was also there just after Bonfire Night to buy for a late (small) party. I'm both a new forum user and a recently solvent firework fan so it was a treat to read all the consumer reviews on this and other sites before I bought.

Of what I fired I particularly enjoyed Fragma, Final Dynasty, and Heavy Duty but the treat was an Open Fire capped off with a The King rocket which, like my jaw, hung forever. Now with the even lower prices I can't think of a reason not to buy another Open Fire.

I also found them very pleasant chaps who knew their business and weren't pushy, even if I did have to take their claimed reductions with a pinch of salt. In particular something like "The King" isn't being made anymore and was on sale last year at Northern Fireworks for £15 so to claim it has an RRP of £40 in order to sell it at £20 but still maintain their "less than half price" claim seems distinctly disingenuous. Damn good rocket though.

Anyway, here's wishing you all a
Very Merry Christmas and an Explosive New Year

King rocket is a really popular one- I think Epic's price is now £24.95 (RRP £49.99) . Loads of other good rockets at Epic too, I think the best value would be the "Supreme" rocket pack. Sky Thriller is another big one they do, I think for about £15.

Yes, I picked up a Sky Thriller after all the positive comments I'd read, some even saying it'd put The King in the shade. While it was a pleasant piece it paled in comparison to that hefty lump of Danish royalty in every important department - beauty, spread, duration, and definitely number of "oohs" from the crowd (even though I think my brother "oohed" twice which might have upset the count).

I'm also working my way through a Supreme pack, which is certainly great value for money and has a nice variety of effects so far.

I don't know why I got so excited about rockets this year though; I never have before. There was just something about those vulgarly long sticks and pregnant, swollen casings that made me throw reason out of the window. For a garden display it was so much more thrilling to have that fanned wall of glorious golden effects that Open Fire threw up than any one rocket, and from what you say about The King's new price it's now easier on the pocket too.

Ahhh, fireworks; bewitching the senses again!

24 pound for a rocket are you mad? wow I bet it cost all of 30p to make. I see no point in wasting all that money on a rocket with a 2" or so shell within it. So that could be £12 for the lift and £12 for the shell.

I agree it is a huge RRP and no doubt has something to do with the fact that there isn't much competition, not many large rockets about at present....(wonder who set the £49-99 rrp?)

To be fair though if you are wanting a large willow/brocade type burst you can't get any better. I have used a LOT of rockets and this is simply better, wether its worth the money is another debate :)

another thing to consider is the fact that if joe public wants a big burst effect then large rockets are the only option they have regardless of the price they sell at or how much they cost to make and £20 give or take £2 or £3 either way is the price they are selling for regardless of whoever's brand they are ,

combine that with the recent changes to them making them 1.3G and thereby harder to ship and store and you got even further problems in that for the most part your limited to whatever you find locally or be prepared to travel to get them , or drop down to the smaller burst black powder 1.4G versions

forgot to add that Epic are moving to Barnsley to bigger purpose built premises all being well sometime in the new year , shop will be much larger which will enable them to have more of a selection on hand and larger levels of stock so good news for all

I think the best items in Epic's range are the big fan barrages, Awaken, Atomic Tornado, Imperial Invasion- plus their smaller barrages are excellent value too, Humming Hornets, Skylab, Dr Thrust etc- all of which are their own brands.

Does anyone know if Epic plan to continuing stocking other brands, such as Brothers , Fireworks International etc?

Watch folks. Just a quick apologetic post to say that I phoned Epic on Boxing Day but they said they were shut, so I didn't go. As the guy who answered sounded like he was at home with the kids I didn't drill him on their plans for moving.

Epic Fireworks are moving as has already been reported or said in this thread , they will be moving to Barnsley to a brand new purpose built "shop" i dont have a date for this but i can confirm its in the pipeline and due to happen somtime this year , the new shop is going to be bigger so that means more stock/range available

they are also bringing in more new items this year for the new season but again no details are available at the moment
