If your black powder is reasonable, what you will end up with is a banger. Probably not the best place to start your pyro experiments...

If you add about 10% iron filings & 5% charcoal you will have a good place to start in making an unchoked fountain. Much safer!

I presume you mean, if you fill a tube with your B.P., will it make a banger or a fountain?

That is impossible to answer with the limited info that you have given.

You say your B.P. is quite fast. How fast is quite fast? Will you compact the powder? etc etc.

It's worrying that you seem prepared to make "quite alot" of B.P. without much knowledge or understanding of pyrotechnics. This isnt a personal dig at you, but for the safety of you & others, before you attempt to construct any firework / pyrotechnic device, read up on all the safety requirements, theory etc (available on this forum).

Learning from "mistakes" in pyrotechnics can mean loosing a hand or worse!

If a gram or two disappears with a *Whoof* (for lack of a better term  ), it's probably fast enough for most pyro-related work.

It shouldn't smoulder, or leave much dross. Just a quick "poof", then it's gone.

Making pulverone (use the search function) is an option, as well.

Don't all guys start with bangers? Any guy who doesn't like bangers has a questionable sexuality in my book. :P

Black match is a good second step. It will familiarize you with binders and it is required for many other devices.
Save the visco for later. When you have sucessfully made black match you can create a fountain or small triangle banger.
Seach for paloma, polumna or triangle salute and you will find all info you need. 0.5 or 1 gram good black powder is enough for
a small banger.

Making your BP into pulverone is another useful thing to learn and will help the performance of BP polumnas.
