The society runs the course sometime each year and to be viable it needs 12 people on the day. This may mean 14 people on the list to allow for the inevitable prior bookings making some people unavailable some days.

The course sets a fair standard for knowledgable firers to have a lot of understanding of the regulation and safe use of fireworks.

I would also be interested in this course depending on work commitments and location. Ricky

The break even for the society is about 10 people, so we are there assuming everyone sticks with it. We will need deposits of £50 once the details are settled.

We will put this on the management meeting agenda for 24/02/10 and try and firm things up a bit.

I presume that this is a one day course. I've just heard that it will become a two day course at some point.

I'd certainly be interested, Coalville Leics is a no go for me...any thing west of Bristol? I'm in Devon ( Tavistock way) I can't be the only one down here wishing to learn. In earlier posts it mentions suitable PPE, is there a list of what this constitutes? ( I've searched this) wouldn't want to turn up in the wrong colour overalls

The venue is Not chosen yet. When it is PhilDunford will post it here. Should you want a course near you then find a suitable venue and the society may use it.

Suitable PPE would be what you would typically require to fire...

Proban or other fire resistant overall's (any colour reflective bands are desireable)
Helmet (forestry tops are good because of the mesh visor)
Adequate eye protection
Ear Defense
Gloves
Boots

And if like me your a serious regular firer you will find other essentials like flash hood, F1 Gallet etc Posted Image

i know when i did the course they said they don't allow the forestry type mesh visor, some people had to borrow one with a polycarbonate visor.

I dont use them myself, the thought of a 30mm bombette getting up inside the visor is enough to make me shudder
