Well, not "new" new, but looks like some shops are getting some mid season bits in. I haven't been in yet, bu Chris from Firework Factory mentioned they had some new stuff, Kimbolton and Sparky, and some interesting fountains too. Also I know epic are doing a new range for this year, not sure when that is due on these shores!

Apparantly though there is some (understandable) uncertainy in the market. For many last year wasn't a strong year (although for others it was) and the general economic climate (and very weak Pound) isn't helping.

The glory days of massive new ranges is perhaps behind us, but still, I'm sure there will be some good stuff!

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Here is Hercules II

An example of how blackpowder burst can work well, in combination with fallling leaves, crackle bursts etc and mixed fanned effects.

However, its going to be about £90, will be interesting to see how well it does, given the current economic climate.

Personally (ie in my own displays,) I'd probably still be tempted to use 1.3G stuff for the biggest pieces, for the finale.

Can someone look at these items from Red Devil Fireworks (a company I have never heard of) and shed any light on them? Do they comply with BS for a start? Are Dancing Red Devil a legit company?

It seems like everything on that list is either banned to the public or would be very unlikely to pass BS testing. Very unlikely that you will see them on sale.

Well if you delete the end of the url so it ends at "fireworks.com/" it appears to be a UK based company (or at least currently trading in the UK) already.

I agree though that these are largely banned in the UK as (I think) all the "pyrotechnic toys" are definitely banned.

Specifically banned from UK sale are "Items of random flight" which includes most things with bits of card wings.

selling fireworks from a car boot sale is strictly illegal, and if trading standards get to know ;) they can confiscate the goods and get the seller a hefty fine and possible imprisonment.

These type of fireworks are listed as "toy" fireworks in the rest of Europe & Asia because they are not regarded as "adult" type fireworks.

Fireworks of this type are regarded as more for use by youngsters or youths, but being described as "toy" does not mean they are to be "played" with.

It is unfortunately an indictment of our UK society that these fireworks are not available, because their use would be abused instead of being used as intended & enjoyed (as youngsters in Europe / Asia seem to be able to do).

I realise this is a generalisation & not all UK youngsters would abuse them & not all European / Asian youths do not misuse them - but they have not done so to the extent of being so anti-social, as to get them banned.

As ever - the minority spoil it for the majority!

Yes, my thoughts too.

However, some of the "winged" ones might simply be fountains, with a bit of "wing" as decoration. There was a similar one from (I think) Panda.

Edit- Not sure about these ones specifically- but I DO think in the next few years we will see a rise in small, cheaper packs of fireworks and a decline in bigger cakes.
