Hi All,

The society's documentation and legislation committee are looking for a head count of the number of members of the forum who are interested in manufacturing their own fireworks for non-commercial purposes. This information is useful to us to gauge the number of people we need to represent when liaising with the HSE and other authorities.

Please take time to vote.

Kind regards,

Wayne.

I take it here that by manufacturing, Wayne means making any practical device for fun or experiment.

If you've ever put a bit of powder in a tube and lit it, that's what you've done! (or indeed if you want to do that)

If we can present a case for ammendments to the HSE with the backing of hundreds of pyro hobbiests it will stand much more chance of success than a petition with a few names...

Yes exactly! :D Now I know there are more than 11 people who would like to make fireworks!

Come on folks this is important

I voted YES of course  I expected it to be about 300 by now. Can it be pinned where no one can miss it??

How many do we need before we are taken seriously by HSE?

Don't think there is such a thing as an exact number, but I wouldn't take us seriously if it were not in the hundreds.

Come on guys, no one is tracking you, it's an anonymous poll, I could name 50 of you from memory! If you do it or would like to do it click the button and advance the cause!

Yes, I would like to make some of my own fireworks to fire at my own show to begin with, and then have an option to expand into selling to other outlets at a later date as a possibility!

must be very hard for some people to press yes or no

though does the 221 views also include guests (which can't vote)

maybe a mod / admin could make an headed announcement on the forum index to vote here ? or even send a mass email to all members

Would it not be better to approach the HSE and the like to manufacture our own fireworks for our own public paying (commercial) displays (providing it meets british standards),...... albeit with limits on quantities of compounds being manufactured in any one place?,....this would create a further stepping stone/bridge from official hobbyist status to full blown large manufacturing capabilities!

We might get more votes on this basic proposal!
