Don't know what the duty will be, but VAT will be added by HMRC before it will arrive with you.
Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

So, let me get this straight. Shipping of plastic hemispheres from the US was too expensive, so you bought an $1800 machine, and had it shipped over? For that price you could have gotten a mountain of plastic hemispheres from Plasticos Gamon in Spain. They're higher quality than the stuff available here.
I've never actually found any way of ordering from Gamon, there's not a lot of help on their website.

I found them a little hard to deal with at first but persevered and got there in the end and since then haven't had any problems. I think it helps once you've already had business with them when you reorder.
A point of interest, I had an e-mail exchange from Antonio Gamon of Gamon Plasticos in Spain.
He says they are intending to add an English translation to their website soon.

Hi
Did you ever get your wasp pasting machine ? If you did can you tell us about it please.. I am intrested in using the machine to make the entire shell casing ...
I have seen jim post some picture on pyrobin on how to make a former.. then wrap the former in cling film then paste gummed paper tape until the right thickness is produced...I would like to know how much it costs per shell..
Thanks
Rob

ohh its a dream using it, it can paste a 8" shell with 14 layer in less than 4 minutes, if the tape is just right in dampness on a hot day it will dry same day.
i hate hand pasting shells, i don't know how i ever got on without it.
costs well the tape cost me about £1.50 a roll, An 8" uses 1 roll but i may have found a source at only £1 per roll (maybe less depending on the quantity i buy. it seems within the last year gummed tape has come in fashion as everywhere seems to do it now for box packing).
A good friend also gave me the idea of maybe using normal paper tape but using watered down pvc added into the water dispenser as this would get rid of the need for expensive gummed paper tape and pvc is a lot stronger so watch this space.
I haven't tried making my own casing yet as i though it seems more expensive, could be cheaper. i suppose it depends on the tape costs.
oh the parcel was not sent as a gift as i was promised and got a £169 add in vat 2 months later by TNT (lucky im vat registered)
if you really love the pyro hobby then this is a must but i must admit its a lot of money to spend. my wife still to this day thinks it cost £300 (she hit the roof at this cost hate to think what she would do if she knew the real amount lol)
