we're a pretty easy going lot here down under and generaly mind our own business, but unfortunately our Govt is recruiting neighbour dobbers, until now we seem to have missed all the paranoid hype most of you guys deal with day in day out.
i have just watched a television advertisment for, "" The National Security Hotline "", if you see something suspicious call us ! what possibly could be next ? Bin snoopers and back yard peepers,
i find this an outrage and would like to give other Aus pyros a heads up.

Yeah unfortunately we have the same here. If I were a cynic I'd possibly think "Divide & Conquer".

Thats exactly the theme from George Orwell's 1984.

I'm strongly getting to the point of believing that radical terrorists are not the major threat to our nation.

I think the biggest threat we face is MUCH much closer to home.

Prohibition of alcohol in America was totally ........ at preventing people having alcohol.

Prohibition of hand guns in the UK was totally .........at preventing gun crime Ask Jill Dando's parents.

Yet we still continue to prohibit things.

Strangely the Glasgow Airport terror event used retail available items.

Anyone would think they're targeting pyros and chemists, as opposed to society. They could just as easily use petrol and bleach or something, but instead they insist on using more exotic chemicals in a half-assed manner. Most get foiled and no-one gets hurt, but the chemicals get banned.
Terrorists move onto something else, and we are stuck wih a limited number of chemicals.

Typical!

It's the F-ing media....Police find a toilet roll tube and hair bleaching kit, they say the terrorists were going to kill the tube by dying it..... You have to say the "report" in the style of a "news reader". Sorry for the crap joke.

The media gets basic info and then makes you live in fear just so they keep their jobs. I hate the fact that people believe everything they hear. IMO we only get 10% of the facts, the rest is hype.

I know, lets ban everything that can cause harm.....OH!, wait, thats EVERTHING!!!! Forget living in a padded cell in a plastic bubble......... Man dies from carbon monoxide poisoning........ Turns out he's been living in a plastic bubble in a padded cell but likes his beans...Lets ban them!

Here's one for you....The government(s) changes scientific discoveries to fit their current policies. Anyone fancy there brain washed?

Sorry for the rant

Your rant is perfectly valid portfire, the media do uberhype everything just to sell papers / airtime. Swine flu anyone ?

Although the Goverments misinformation programme feeds into that. Perhaps they want us all to be calm, placid sheep that do what we're told and pay them uber salaries.

divide and conquer" absolutely, our motto for the c.f.m.e.u ( construction, forestry, mining and energy union ) is, united we stand, divided we fall,
years ago when i researched communism, i found that local comunities have a citizen police force, ( brown shirt sort of stuff) that were responsible for snooping and finding out what is happening in their comunities against regulations, bringing it to the local directorate for scrutiny,( china is big on this ) i can clearly see our free western style of liberty is receding to the abyss of state control, under the guise of fanatism,
hopefully it is just for this generation and as the younger endeavour into political office, they will repeal all the draconian national safety crap and see that all this bull s**t is doing nothing but constricting our freedom and education..

Unfortunately it's much easier to create a new law than it is to get rid of one...

BTW did you know the Blair government created more new law in 10 years than had been created in the previous 1000.

Be afraid - be very afraid... (and then behave yourselves)

i'm not a believer in home schooling but have a few friends that are, most of these kids are highly intelligent but unfortunately, they cannot aquire practical experience in chemistry due to the absurd regulations, although home schooling is Govt sanctioned

I wouldn't be that optimistic, when you consider how much this 'common purpose' organisation has infiltrated our schools.

Next step will be to further regulate home schooling as it becomes more popular. These days it seems as though the educational system is far more concerned with social engineering than actually educating our children to a decent level.

And as far as the media goes, I stopped paying much attention many years ago. Just look at who owns/controls them and it soon becomes clear why it's so laughable.

I should stop now, before the expletives start to flow : )

Well I'm doing my bit for freedom!

I've now shown a group of year 7s and a group of year 8s how to blow a hole in the sports field -

Same here, just love listening to the BS they come out with. The only thing I hate about it, is they repeat it every 15 mins or so. I want up to date BS, not the same crap...I'm sure it's on a loop!....

@ StephF. Thanks. Oh, I had Swine flu for about a week, then had MP's robbing me for about.......We'll have to see about that one.

What, like calling the police when a small group of local kids meet up near the park?

I think we, the public, should run a poster campaign, addressed to the "terrorists", with a big picture of sundry MPs who have fiddled their expenses on it, which says something like "we, Joe Public, really don't have anything against Moslems or coloured people, in fact we really want to thank you for bringing us decent curry and kebabs - if you want to bomb anybody, don't take it out on us, blow up these t*****s instead". 50p per person ought to buy a decent ad campaign!

i didn't study / do a thesis at uni on the subject, i mearly researched it to gain an understanding of it, albeit a limited one
and i wasn't talking about the intricies of communism or socialism. I was talking about state control and one of the tools they use....they being totalitarian ideoligists....Stalin / Mao, same diff,

and as far as calling in the old bill on a few kids in the park, i was acually thinking a little more sophisticated than that

hey trev, LOL, i love currys and kebabs, any chance of you becomeing the campaign manager ?
