Righto. How does one do that then? Sort of cook it up some noodles?

Is there a specific method. Sorry for my ignorance. i have read about coating metals with oil but never read the process. Cheers for the reply!

I literally added a kg of magnalium or magnesium granules (course powders are far easier than fine ones I found) into a wok, added the linseed (un boiled) and heated it as I stired it contstantly. It goes from being a sticky mess at first to freeer flowing as the oil heats up then back to sticking as it starts to dry up to completely free flowing again when completely dry.

Probably there are better ways but it worked well for me.

Outdoors or a good fume hood is important as it stinks and smokes quite a bit.

Awesome. I will look forwards to exploring the process! And, to having solid stars again.
