Can you buy consumer fireworks in Northern Ireland now? I know the law changed recently.

hi, the law changed a few years ago to say that you are supposed to have a license to purchase, sell and let off fireworks. its £30 for one but to get it you have to tell them the name of every firework your letting off and the date etc. to be honest its a big hassle to get one and most people just get them from people selling them from their home etc. i no this may seem wrong but the government doesn't seem to realize that making people have a license will not stop them getting fireworks and it will only fuel the growth for the illegal trade.
Is it the same in southern Ireland ?

any of you guys still about on this post, im in co.antrim. would say u all feel the same, i think pyro should be legalised for people like us from northern ireland that don't use them for the wrong reasons. the likes of consumer ball shells in the states etc should be sold here because as far as i can see they have more stability than rockets. opinions please

I think the reason they stopped selling ball shells to the public is because they are incredibly dangerous/potentially fatal if not used correctly. Bigger ones can apparently take ya head off !!!

"The Troubles" caused NI to have a different MSER 2005 from Great Britain MSERNI or MSER
Following different beginnings I expect that ER2014 will apply to GB and ER(NI)2014 to apply in NI. ONLY a specialist advisor can offer qualified advice on such a specialist subject. However personally I doubt that reloadable shells and tubes will be permitted in NI as they are prohibited in GB.
Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

I regularly work with the enforcing authorities in NI and can confirm that there is little appetite to produce a NI version of ER2014 soon.
Please email me at danny@skewenergetics.co.uk if you wish to discuss NI issues outside of the forum.
