Was just wondering who is going to the Stanford Hall display tomorrow, and what inert fireworks everyone is bringing?

I plan to finish off a cross section 2" shell with plaster stars and cocoa powder on grass seeds burst(as in chocolate cocoa, not the variant of black powder!).

Also if anyone would like a lift down there from near the M1, I will be travelling South from the A57 Worksop junction and have 3 empty seats. Planing to get there between 3 and 3.30, if you are interested just PM me before mid day Saturday.

I will be bringing the the UKPS old fireworks collection, plus a collection of dummies of old fireworks that people can handle. All done up like an old shop display.

I also am bringing the means to show a rolling film show - hopefully Cooperman has bagged a generator!

Keep your fingers crossed for the weather!!

Think we are all aiming for about 3-00

Remember we only have 5 'free passes' with our gazebo spot, over that we have to pay entry... Myself Chris and Matt have tickets. One spot goes to Rich, One to Coop, suggest people phone one or the other of them to sort this out...

Genny is all ready to be used yep Phil. I do need to go and get a 24v round plug to 3 pin domestic converter though.

Ive the gazebos plastic sheets and a table plus a load of the Gamon and other manufacurers plastic parts to show shell makeup. Also the dummy stars from the AGM which nicely show layering for colour changing.

An excellent day was had by all! Despite the rain we had a very good turn-out and a constant stream of interested people visiting the exhibits. Hopefully Phil D has some pictures of the stand, I will upload the one or to I took in between dashing about

I would say a resounding success overall, and something we should aim to repeat / expand to further events.

A special thanks is due to Phil C, Phil D, Max, Chris, Matt, pyromaniac303, johndee, and everyone who came along to support us. We love you all!

Was a superb if busy day.



After setting up the stand in pouring rain, it was pretty much non-stop for the next 4 hours. Only just about enough time to stop for a 5 minute Hog Roast!

Interest from the public was amazing, we gave out hundreds of cards and sold pens, Polo Shirts and copies of Spark. Questions were many and varied, but all positive and supportive of our aims. I spoke to grannies, teenagers and 5 year olds. We had firers from the competing teams, students, farmers, you name it, I even spoke to a Bomb Disposal guy who explained how they knew what we up to and were supportive, but how the police did not understand us and they (Bomb Disposal) had to keep on telling the police that we are not the bad guys!

More to come from Chris as well I expect. Hopefully some good stuff of the shows (which were excellent) from Richard, as he got to go up on the roof and get a perfect view!

I only ask out of curiosity, but other than yourselves, was there anyone else with a tent/stall/stand there, either related or unrelated to pyro?

When I went in 2005 there was nothing- seems an opportunity wasted.

Looks like you guys had a good day/evening (even though the weather looks a bit unkind),.........well done for putting in the effort!

Sorry I couldn`t make the trip this time,...... hopefully I can make one of next displays (has the society booked the next event?).

I have just added my record of the events at Stanford Hall (see link). What a friendly and enthusiastic bunch of people we met there! Why is it that so many guys get misty eyed about bangers and air bombs? I think it must be a boy thing. I'm not that interested in making fireworks but I love watching them and what brilliant displays there were to see. Well worth braving the elements for.
