To be fair David the vast majority of consumers buy fireworks once a year and will have little/no idea of the individual items they purchased the year previously :)

Yes, that is a good point. I suppose it's a bit like Christmas Crackers or wrapping paper- I wouldn't have a clue as to what it cost last year!
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

This is a fairly (well, very) obvious point, of course, but the selling price (and certainly the RRP) does not necessarily give a reliable indication of how good an item is. In some cases a price increase, even a "steep" one, still would be good value.

However, its the stuff that was poor value to begin with that has suddenly shot up that might produce real stinkers.

I'm not naming the brand directly, but I've noticed one website selling a 48 shotter for £139.99. Oh dear. For the record, it was catalogue RRP of £69.99 four years ago, and in my opinion poor value for money at that price!

If you don't mind me asking, where from?

Not at all. Just a local shop in my home town. I only have a relatively small space to let stuff off in and I bought a large Absolute cat 2 box which if I recall was £19.99, for £9.99. I also have some Cosmos cakes from Lidl (I just really like them) and some rockets. I usually add a few homebrewed endburner rockets as my yearly play about. Luckily there is a screen of trees half way up the garden, so if they cato (which they never have, but I don't rule it out), then I have a safety screen. Working through a large collection of Panda 28mm power candles I have left too. I was given a case :)

I am in one of the Lewes bonfire societies, so I usually have a little display in the garden on Nov 5th from about 6.30 onwards and then go and join the procession.
Organisation is a wonderful trait in others
