Been a few discussion threads about the ins-and-outs of it all, I just fancied a straight one about... consumer fireworks, and actually firing them!

For those of us who fire shop bought Cat 3, what is your display going to be for Guy Fawkes Night.

Mine is, provisionally:

In this order.

Devil's Delight (possibly with Crackle Crackers too.)
First Dynasty
Typhoon Twister Midnight Melody Rapier Missles Cluster Bomb
Cosmos 2x Rapid Fire
Screaming Scarabs/Serpents Triple X Whistler Singing Birds
Blast Mania Smart Bomb x 3
Angel's Tears

Plus Rockets- Mega, Black Scorption lar de dars, Panda Lucky Star.

If you do get more cube, get the mouse, its an excellent fan barrage with some nice screeches and breaks too!

I might try to get hold of the Mouse i have seen videos. Will probally try to get another Airforce
i can get one for about £20 great willows on this one and when they are gone they gone and at least they
go bang not pop.
Not too sure whats happened to cube thought they might have a new range as all there old stuff would be 1.3G.

I am torn between the below 2 display packs, i am sure you can guess where they are from!

The first:

the 2nd:

2 x Rogue Vipers

Both are the same price @ £295, and looking at the list, the 2nd option will give a much faster display but with more impact, but i'm still not sure which one to go for!

What are you opinions on price? And also which one would be a better display for a large garden party of around 100 people?

My personal preference is to choose fireworks individually- display packs can be great- and sometimes are significantly cheaper than buying "A la Carte", however, it does typically mean you are "doubling up" on fireworks. Indeed- that can be great, as fired in pairs is a nice way to do it, but does limit variety a little- there are a lot of nice items in that range, well worth trying- Whispering Palms, Airboss, Awaken for example being three that are well worth trying.

In the first one you get a lot of rockets, which can look great fired together (if suitable and safe - perhaps with an approved firing system). Or fired individually will keep you going all evening!

The second one you mention gives bigger cakes, which could perhaps be fired in pairs. However personally, rather than having 12 firewors in 6 pairs (especially Fire Ones) you could try 12 indvidual ones.

If fired individually, you would get a display twice as long, but with half as much intensity.


Also, if you happen to like the look of a specific firework that isn't included in the pack, it never hurts (presuming price is the same) to ask a retailer if they are happy to include the one you want in the deal instead of the one you don't want.

(The only exception would be items that are part of a pre-packed selection box/barrage pack or rocket pack.)

Thanks for the reply.

Your comments have confirmed my thoughts I already had. The large selection of rockets in the first pack was one of my worries, as i know they do tend to drag on. If i were to let that many off it would be done with a few extra sets of rocket tubes, safely spaced out and lit by two people to get a few going fairly quickly, that may help!

The problem with picking individual fireworks (as would be my preference too) is the place i am intending to buy from will normally only deliver fireworks in packaged crates (hence the 2 of everything probably) and they are quite far from me.

I have struggled for a couple of years now to find a decent retailer, that can garuntee the quality of the brothers range, cat3 and flashpowder fireworks, which the above lists all aparantly are!

I will contact the retailer, to see if they can amend the displays, but i highly doubt it. If that is the case, is there anything in the first kit that you know to be poor? Or would the second kit fired individualy give a better display?

All the fireworks are good- nothing I would call poor.

That one would give you a variety, also a build up- start small and work upwards to the finale- rockets or the Fire One, depending on your preference.


As for the seconf kit, it's just a question of how much time you want to spend doing your display- logically, fired indvidually would take twice as long- but be much more LESS (typo) intese. For bonfire night, I'd tend to do more than 6 firings (that is to say, 6 pairs).

Possibly you could go with that pack, and pick up a few other fireworks as well to add to it, maybe as an opener.

Brothers can certainly be reiled upon for quality!

I contacted the store with the same queries as above, and one of the main points the manager made was:


"Personally I always go for impact, I would much rather watch a 5 minute display that is excellent than a 10 minute display that is so-so. That said, the conspiracy pack is a brilliant display and although there are some smaller ones in it they are very good, the King Cobra in particular is stunning for the size.



It is not possible to modify the set packs at all I am afraid. We have had special cartons made which we can use to ship the mixed fireworks that you see in the conspiracy and many other packs. We have a limited number of these and have to reserve them all for the set packs. Sadly this means no chopping and changing with them."



I am thinking of doing what he suggested, fire the first half of the pack individually (edit: pack 2 i mean) and then double up on probably 2 of them to create the finale, as in my opinion them barrages are more then capable on their own, and what i also may do is pick up a pack of rockets, possibly only 3-5 just to add a bit of variety, cant beat the "woosh" of a rocket!

Taking in the fact that they will lit by hand, probably with small gaps as i run around like a loony trying to get them up on time, i think that display could last around 7 minutes. Last years display turned out to be a whole 3 minutes (lesson learnt), do you think 7 minutes is an acceptable performance?

Yeah- it certainly can be- I suppose it just depends on what people expect from the evening. A short display is good followed by food, etc.



Assuming this is bonfire night, or close to it, then there shouldn't be issues either with noise. Out-of-season I try to keep displays as short as possible to avoid annoying people with prolonged noise.

Its going to be on 31st October, its a bonfire/halloween/birthday party so yeh we have food etc.

With regards to noise, I live in Slough, the most multicultural town in the UK, so as you can imagine we have lots of festivals going on throught the year with fireworks, i only do it once a year, so i really couldnt care less about the noise!!! hehe!

Im going to go for pack 2 i think. I just need to find a local store selling cat3 flash to get some rockets, as the store im buying the above from can't deliver anything less than a full crate of rockets, fair enough!

Noise shouldn't be a problem on October 31st- the Saturday before bonfire night there is usually a fair bit going off.
