Here is a small 2 Oz BP rocket that I made and set off last night.

http://raiderzon.pyr...ideo/2oz_tt.mpg

Specs:
Case: 3/8" x 3"
Tooling: Wolter Pyro Tools
Stabilizer: 15" bamboo
Head: 1" x 1" canister with drinking straw canulle fillled with 70/30
Stars: 1/4" pumped Tiger Tail Outer, with blesser white strobe on the inner section.
Fuel: 6/3/1 with 10% ti in the delay section

The rocket worked ok except the blesser white strobe microstars never took fire. I
pulled a bonehead move and thought I could get away without priming them. Also,
on future rockets, I need to provide more delay section so it reaches greater heights.

Keep the videos coming!

whats up raiderzone,
im a newby to this forum as well and was wondering if you could tell me how to construct a bp rocket please.
thanks
cheers

Search. There are a few threads that talk about building rockets. No need to start the cycle again.

I wouldn't class these as my best fireworks, but I'll post them anyway to keep this thread going. The glitter fountain is allready in the fountain formulas thread, but it may have passed some of you by.

Can't get the hyperlink button to work for some reason so you'll need to copy and paste : (

Here is a slight copout .. it is a commercial mortar shell (festival ball) but with a small comet on top and a bit more lift (to offset the added weight of the comet):

These are fun to do and easy for a beginning pyro.

The composition was slightly modified Winokur, silver 'C' - there's a brief write up in the fountain formulas thread, second to last post at the moment.

Glad you liked it!

Yes - that was a nice looking fountain. Looked like it burned nice and cleanly too. I thought the blue and red cake was good too - nice deep colours.

Hey LadyKate, what was the composition you used for the comet you put on top of the shell ?! Looked like a willow or tigertail comp with added metal fuel to me...

I used Bleser's Blond(e) Streamer:

Source: Bleser

Potassium nitrate .............45
Sulfur ................................ 6
Charcoal (150 mesh) ....... 29
Dextrin ............................ 5
Ferrotitanium .................. 15

So, you were right - it is a willow/tiger tail with added metal! :D

I didn't have 150 mesh charcoal when I made this batch so I used 50 mesh and zapped it very briefly in a coffeegrinder - the result was a wide range of mesh sizes that gives an effect that I like. The charcoal was Skylighter. The FeTi was 40-325 mesh.

LadyKate what size was the comet you attached to festival ball? The FeTi 40-325 mesh didnt also happen to be Skylighter did it?

It was 1.5" -- fairly big for just a festival ball but I wanted lots of effect -- looks like this when attached:

The FeTi was Skylighter

Here are three fountains in a small fan. I used two stages - first was charcoal and steel turnings, second was Fe/Ti, both with purple microstars. All three fountains were 3/4" ID, with a large choke of about 1/2".

http://creeper.250free.com/100000.rar - (warning - 11Mb file!)

I'll put the formula in the fountain formulas thread.

note to self:
Must remember to elevate fountains to stop sparks/stars burning to the ground!

Nice! How long were the tubes? You got a great burn from them - nicer than most of the consumer versions.

The tubes are 7.5" long - comp was rammed to about 1/2" from the end of the tubes. The long burn time is also aided by the large nozzle and coarse ingredients. I don't mind sacrificing plume height for a longer burn with these types of fountains.

Still not sure about the chuffing (is it chuffing?) happening near the end of the burn though....

Loved it mate, fantastic burn time and effects its a shame the camera burns out when the plume gets large as i would have loved to see the detail in the plume. Mind you i could just make one myself and have a look, very pretty mate well done. Did you use quickmatch to light all the tubes at once?
