Im glad they dont though. I personally dont benefit from annual retailers but dont want them to die out because supermarkets have a foot hold.

I get the impression that the "losers" against the supermarkets are typically the smaller seasonal sellers (corner shops and the like.)
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

"losers" in this context being a loose term for businesses who lose customers, or recieved less custom as a result of people buying from other outlets.

context example - "the biggest losers follow the smoking ban were pubs in working class areas."

That is certainly true, although it's just a steady part of a long decline in the more traditional bonfire night habits.

It might make an interesting research project- the shift from the focus being on children and small scale backyard celebrations to the current "fill your car with fireworks and put on a big display" type of consumer.

Very true David,.....the thought police (our incredulous nanny state government) has a lot to answer for on many fronts,...hopefully with more members joining the ukps (more campaigns to delegate and manage), I think there is much we can do over the coming years to re-strengthen our back garden bonfire night traditions, but it will mean a lot of changes regarding health & safety, the law, and consumer habits etc.

Other than a few industrial volume bangs in Skem, not much tonight at all so far. Driving through Liverpool I saw literally 1 firework!

Its kicking off a bit up here. I set off a couple of trial rkts and it seems to have started a bit of a chain reaction with my competitors.

I wasn't in Preston tonight but been told there was quite a lot going off. Nothing loud all fizzes and pops.

Heard a few going off in Southport around 9:00pm.

saw a few tonight in my locality of scotland (80k people)......a few measly rockets, with little or no burts, and few 20ish shot cakes.

Dissapointing.

Only the 5th or 8th for me! I'm busy on the 6th and 7th. :( The weather is a lot nicer out there now, no rain or wind but the ground is very wet, I would be happy with that on Thursday. :P

Still legally available- it's just the small ones that are banned.

I think Bright Star might do a basic whilste/bang rocket pack.

Suddenly, it's just three days to go!
