Good morning troops, I know this is on the fringe of pyrotechnics (unless you count an 18 inch hybrid rocket engine producing 25000lbs st thrust), but went to the 1K Club meet at the University of the West of England yesterday. Richard Noble and his team are planning to achieve 1000mph on land in 2012 with Bloodhound, a combined jet+ rocket car. Absolutely brilliant!

Unlike most high tech projects this is a quintessentially British approach, totally open with live data feeds as the project progresses.
Any teachers out there should get involved as this is one of the main aims.

Let's hope it doesn't use a Toyota accelerator pedal :)
Trying to do something very beautiful but very dangerous very safely....
