How about the humble pestle and morter ,i still find it pretty useful now .
Oh, indeed!! I use it for Perc and other oxidizers, I have a mill jar just for KNO3 though.

Smelting Furnace!
I always wanted an excuse to build one and making Magnalium for people gave me the funds and excuse, being able to cast Ali, brass and iron is really handy for bits I need to make occasionally. AND its so much fun!!!!
Have to agree I love mine too. 10 - 1000 degrees (well more actually) in a few seconds (yes I heat it up slowly when I have not used it for a while).
It will be for sale soon. It is fully mobile on a trolly and will take a 6" by 8" crucible. with a high temperature lining and a propane venturi type burner (sounds like a jet engine on full fire)..... Mark 2 on its way, big bad ass dual waste oil burner upto a 10" diameter crucible.
