I think what CPF is saying, is that it's not a very good idea to sell people booze and fireworks. We all know its fireworks then booze, I doubt most of the general public dont do this. Lets not give the anti squad more ammo.
EXACTLY Portfire, FIREWORKS FIRST, BOOZE AFTER! and I would include cooking with a BBQ.
I know this may come across as being unpopular and stuffy, but most of us know that a large proportion of our feral youths go and tank up by purchasing cheap liquor in off licenses/mini supermarkets (less security & monitoring/policing) as opposed to the big chains supermarkets before hitting the bars in our town centres at the weekends.
The granting of a license to sell fireworks in the same premises selling alcohol, would in my opinion see a increase in incidents/injuries = as portfire infered, this will give fuel to anti pyro groups to call for a ban on retail fireworks, and will set-back societies like the UKPS on many fronts.
Having said that, if you think about it, Tesco`s, Morrisons, Lidl`s, Sainsbury`s and the like do exactly the same right now, so would it make a difference to the firework fraternity if we supported a campaign to stop the coroporates selling fireworks by lobbying?
Personally I want to see more independant dedicated firework shops with newagents selling fireworks that don`t sell booze (as they did in my day), but then again Im either biased or stuck in the past on some of my thinking!
