If you can't get any offcuts, try www.burdens.co.uk

They have trade centres all over the UK & take cash sales over the counter.

I use 63mm O.D. (about 50mm I.D.) for 2" mortar tubes.

If you buy it in 6M lengths it is straight, ie not in a roll, I paid 20 quid for 6M of 63mm - enough for a decent rack !!

4.3mm doesn't sound very thick to me.

The stuff I use is just over 6mm wall thickness for the 63mm OD pipe & thicker for the bigger sizes.

There are many different types of HDPE / MDPE pipe & it's worth checking the spec to see the pressure rating & also the SDR, which is the OD divided by the wall thickness.

4.3mm for 75mm pipe sounds like SDR17.6 this is not as thick as the same pipe in SDR11, which will be around 7mm wall thickness.

Also there is PE80 & PE100 pipe. The PE 100 can stand a higher pressure for the same thickness.

For 2" mortars, the pipe I use is 63mm SDR11 PE80 & has not let me down.

The cable ducting the highways people use is perfect for 2" aswell. I use PE 100 cant think of the size or SDR for my 2 inch and its perfect. The problem you can get with MDPE more so than HDPE is reversion, the ends curl in and reduce the I.D, however the pipe should be thick enough to shamfur the end with a jigsaw to cut the I.D back to the original size.

I have more waxed cardboard tubes with fitted bungs, than I am ever likely to need (the unused ones are mainly 3" & 4" - 75mm/100mm).

If anyone would like to buy a few do drop me a line and swing by Newbury to collect.

If it's PE100 it might be OK, especially for mines/round shells. The one piece HDPE ubes I use are only 5mm thick for the 3"'s and fire single break cylinder shells very happily :)
Trying to do something very beautiful but very dangerous very safely....
