You can buy 1/2" tubes for 58p and 1" tubes (2x 50cm) for £1.88 at Inoxia. We buy from Stell, so you know it'll be the same quality. I thnk the fibreboard tubes are getting a bad rap here. I've used them myself and have sold thousands, never heard a bad word back about them.

i have tubes from the now defunct pyro tubes for Europe these where from stell , the 18mm dia tubes had 4mm walls, and the 25mm tubes had 7mm walls.
both made from chipboard, very strong indeed ideal for rockets.
i popped a piece of tube in a bucket of water to measure its length, as i was trying to recreate it lol.
one thing i did find interesting was its make up, it was three layer thick not one, with a finer; possibly kraft inner layer to form a smoother bore pics ...

So do people think that the chipboard will be fine? Or will thinner kraft paper tubes be better? Before I ask for a quote.

Personally I've never had a problem with chipboard.. So I don't see why people want kraft so desperately

Personally i wouldn`t go near them, chipboard (for rockets). I`ve seen what can happen when pressing to a higher degree. But if your pressures are lower they may be ok.

First, thanks Brightstar. Ok my 1lb tubes are hand rolled (as always) from 125gsm with a wall thinkness of 4mm. I have never had the tube fail, only the nozzle been blow out. Paper type IMO is not always the problem but technique is. well, when rolling.
