Whats the idea we see how many people are coming then sort out the cost? Ime pritty sure andy pittham will be coming i shall check with him asap.
Jay
Yes, we have a meeting tonight & then Paul can tell us the deal he has struck with Illuminate.
If it's similar to before, 10 participants gets the cost down to about £100 per head (for the theory day).
UKPS don't make anything out of this, but we can't afford to lose eithe, so 10 is a practical minimum.
UKPS members will get a £10 discount.
More news soon!

I want to refresh the course, as I did it a while ago. This will be the first opportunity to do the course fully updated to include the EU Pyro Directive bits for Cat4 and P1/P2 (for igniters)

Hi, yes the course covers the new EU Directive so it should be quite interesting. There are a number of local hotels, and there is also accommodation on site however it must be booked in advance. There is a travelodge located only 5 miles from site if the on site accomodation is fully booked, and many other independent hotels/B&Bs in the area. The Travelodge is currently very reasonable at around £35 but I would anticipate this price to rise the closer to the date we get, so it pays to book early.
The start time for Saturday will be approximately 3pm, so lunch will not be provided, however a takeaway of some kind (or several if everyone does not agree on where to order from) will be arranged for the evening. Those who wish to bring their own food are welcome to. The Saturday event will be overseen by a display company (Fuse Fireworks). When the display is over and the site is cleared, attendees can visit the buffet and the remaining event, with 2 live bands and various fund raising activities taking place.
The start time for Sunday will be 9am, with access to the venue from 8.30am onwards, and the venue has a restaurant which serves Sunday Lunch (Bondhay Restaurant Details). I will take bookings a week in advance for this so that they can anticipate numbers and not cause any delays during lunch break. The course will last until approximately 4.30-5pm at which point you can leave site, though anyone wanting to stay for a 'pyro chat' can do so until the restaurant and bar closes.
Costs for the Saturday (practical) - I would appreciate a £50 donation towards the cost of the fireworks. 100% of this money will go into the fund for cat4 fireworks, as I am personally paying for the insurance and all other costs, plus a reasonable percentage of the fireworks.
Costs for the Sunday (theory) - Assuming we have 8 attendees (which looks to be the case as of the moment) the cost will be £137.50 (£132.50 for UKPS members, as they will receive a discount). Any more attendees will reduce this figure further, so on the day you may well receive money back.
For those that wish to know, this is calculated as £100 per head for the course, plus £25 exam fee per head, plus £100 for the venue hire, then divide by total number of attendees. After the 8th attendee at £100, the course fee will then drop from £100 to £80 for any additional people, thus bringing the average price down.
Cheques should be made to: 'UK Pyrotechnics Society'.

Please don't use the address listed on the main website for the membership secretary, as Phil and Christina are moving house in the very near future, therefore it could get lost in the post.
Please include a note listing your real name and forum name so that I know who has paid.
Anyone that would rather pay by Paypal, please let me know as there will be a small extra charge, as Paypal take a fee for any money transferred using their service.
Receipt of payment will confirm your place on the course, and should be submitted as soon as possible to guarantee a place. Spaces on the course are limited to no more than about 12 to maintain a suitable attendee to lecturer ratio.
If you have any further questions feel free to PM me.
Paul

Hello, I am interested in doing the cat4 course for beginners, living in Lancashire when is the next one and how far away is it? Thanks.
The one discussed in this thread is in Derby so not a million miles away from you, it is on the 9th of october so you have got a little less than a month to get ur name down and pay.
