My wife and I are pleased to be able, at last, to welcome Gareth, aka Digger, to our licenced facility in the East Midlands where he has decided to establish his Firework manufacturing business and where he has assumed a share in the fabric of the site.

The move has been the subject of lengthy in-depth discussions and negotiations, the plans are ambitious but well thought out and Digger has certainly proved to us his commitment to the project by bringing on site 12 Hornsby and Goodwyn magazines in support of his plans. We are very pleased to welcome him, as a much respected member of this society I acknowledge our gain is your loss.

I will leave Digger to announce his plans from now on in, I am sure there will be much to report as things proceed and I have no doubt he will continue to do so through the forums.

At last - we can talk about it!

Well jolly good luck chaps - can't think of a more difficult undertaking you could have chosen to engage in...

Thank you for the introduction Paul.

It has been a long time coming with more than a few hurdles to jump along the way.

We are now at the end of the beginning of the project. The skeleton of a business is now in place.

It will be a while before classified products start to leave the site, but be assured they will in the not to distant future (there will be a significant amount of testing to do).

We will be concentrating in some fairly niche markets to start with. So if there is a Maltese shell you would like to see or 12" crown brocade let us know (even if you just want a titanium salute on a string), as we want to know what the professionals out there would like to be able to get their hands on.

Anyway as Paul has said I brought the odd Hornsby along with me. We managed to secure them from a well known factory, it is a shame that this is the end of an era for them. However they will be put to good use in the future for the purpose for which they were originally intended.

So here is a couple of pics of one or two being removed.

Blimey Gareth this is exciting, there are hundreds of questions I and a few others would like to ask out of curiosity, but I guess commercial confidentiality is paramount for its success.

Good luck to you both in this new venture!

From being involved with various clubs/societies etc. I can tell you there are two sorts of people:

a) "Can you do this?" - "No I'm too busy"

b ) "Can you do this?" - "I'm really busy, but I'll do it anyway"

Digger belongs to group "b" and if anyone can make a success of this venture, he can...

I wish you gents the very best luck. I look forward to helping to shape any future offerings. There are definite niches in the UK market at the moment, and I think by offering these, along with the possibility of ADR consignments direct to site - you could be in a unique position. I imagine similar arrangements must be in place for HE end users, so why not fireworks too (I am of course referring to items that now fall under 1.1G).

A very brave move in this current climate.

I hope it is a success, it's nice to see stuff being made in this country !!

All the best.

Congratulations Gareth! I can't begin to imagine the amount of work you must have put in to get this far, and what lies ahead. I hope you will keep us all up to date on your venture, as there is no doubt it will get a lot of interest and support from everyone on here.
Bob.
