I'm a life-long fan of fireworks and I've been arranging non-professional CAT 3 displays for local communities, round tables, public houses etc for the last 10 years or so.

I'm currently training for my BPA level 2 (firer qualification).

I just wondered out of curiosity, how much do companies pay their level 1 and level 2 firers?

Obviously this will vary from company to company, but I am curious as to what is about the 'average'.

Just to clarify, I'm in this for the love of fireworks and I would like to set up my own display company at some point in the future.

Personally, I think one should get paid for a job if someone else is making a profit.

Statute law says that you will get paid, but several companies do not pay.

I did some shows for a company but must admit I felt somewhat used. I wont go into details but much less than the minimum wage and while big profits were being made I was somewhat vunerable by the lack of attention of the ownwers! If its a business then firers are employees and should be looked after and paid accordingly! I left!

I was paid from day 1 and a good rate at that (Thanks Stu ) now 5 years on i'm still loving it and have 150+ shows under my belt

Well I have done shows for a few different companies, and been paid anything from nothing to £120, depending on how generous the company is, how big the show is, and a few other factors.

When I started with the company I fire with I did a few shows for free, now I'm getting paid it varies depending on the costs of the show, but from £50 - £250, not enough to make you rich but I don't do it for the money but the enjoyment, so money is a bonus.

i do it 'cause i get to see free fireworks. any money paid is an absolute bonus!
