And to top it off, quite an impressive display albeit 'off the cuff' after a minor firing system issue, still everybody saw some bloody good fireworks! Very impressed the quality of those shellscape titanium salutes!
Well done to those who work hard to pull these kind of events off they are integral to the pyro community. Especially (from where I was working) Paul and Phil!
Looking forward to next year now

Playing back some clips of the display the crowd were just amazed. Best of both worlds I thought - some nice e-fired cake sequences and the drama and fun of a hand fired finale. Great stuff!
No! We need some time to recoverRoll on 2012 :-)

Look to develop your own competence and make the most of new opportunities to continue your own professional development. It can only be a good thing if the society encourages and sees our members committing themselves to progressing their skills and approach to working with energetic materials. Giving credibility to yourselves, and in turn the UKPS is crucial.
Thanks all, I look forward to the next one!

Glad you all enjoyed it.
Thanks to all to who worked so hard & particularly to Joseph, whose diplomatic skills with the venue probably saved us from a last minute disastrous cancellation.
To those who did not make the journey, you missed a great day, and one whose presentations and discussions in and out of the conference room will very much inform how the society conducts the next year.
I would reiterate Richard's comment that next year is election year & if you think you can move the society forward, you should consider standing for office next time.
Pity about the technical failure, but still a spectacular show and quick thinking from the firers!
Next time, we will almost certainly do the fireworks a different way, as now the show has grown in size, too many people are not able to be in the conference room & contribute to the business of the day.
All in all, a great success I think.

overall i think the AGM was a great success people that wanted to listen to talks enjoyed them self and the people that wanted more hands on enjoyed them self. so well done to all the staff of the UKPS, All the people that took the time to give talks and the people that helped outside with me and phil setting up the display. even with the technical hiccup with the firing hardware the team pulled together and did a great job so well done.
looking forward to the next meet up.

One of the reasons you should still always don PPE when firing electrically. Not the first time I have been in the deep end and had to dive in and hit fuses with a blow lamp.
Think I enjoyed it as much as Phil did...........

phill there is no business of the day,
Well we will probably have to agree to differ on this one...
AGM Annual General Meeting. This is our yearly chance (and legal obligation) to meet and discuss the business of the society. We all love fireworks, that's why we do this, but the display is a nice ending to the day, which we have traditionally done, not a required part of the event.
The fact that it kept the company secretary from attending the meeting is to say the least unfortunate.
We intend to make sure that there are more opportunities for members to get involved, hands on, with displays, but I fear that the display is now starting to take over from the real purpose of the day.
Richard, Myself & Gareth spent some time yesterday discussing how this might be better managed & we would welcome any constructive input from the membership.
Anyway, lets not let this difference of opinion get in the way of celebrating what was a great day.
