Lampblack can be made in many different ways – it’s basically the incomplete burned partials of fuels and/or gases. This entire black staff that comes of chimneys of plants and furnaces… The main problem with this material, that there are so many ways of making it – and the performance is different from one to the other.
Lampblack is light and very dirty material to handle. Don’t use it at home. When handling it use slow and very deliberate motions. If a spoon of lampblack falls on the floor, anything with a good radius will have black spots on it – and they are very hard to remove.
My main problem with lamp black is the volume it takes. It might look like charcoal powder – but a kilo of lampblack require about 4-5 large coffee cans to store!

I agree it is dirty stuff to use and handle, Where a dust mask when you work with it, unless you like honking black stuff for a week or two. I have found common 'Ol kids silly putty or Playdoh picks it up quite completely if you have a spotty floor. Just a tip.

AAAAARRGGHHHH
" I know a UK source where you can buy it by the KG. "
- You won't need much, as it is quite light, so a KG would go a long way.

I tried to PM robert but kept getting:
Mail Error!
Could not send the email
Failed at 'mail' command
Any idea why this is? I couldn't find anything in the Help files.
robert,
As you probably guessed, I wanted to buy some lampblack (~200g). Could you please post or PM me the price you would want for that amount. I'll PM you with my address as soon as I can.
Thanks.
