Hi All

Just to let a few of you know, that guy on eBay you are referring to was actually me (PyroGuy). I decided to have a go and for a short time it was doing quite well however eBay kept smashing me for selling dangerous goods that were being shipped via Aus Post. They would remove my auction items and threaten to suspend me... then a few days later a security officer rang me from Aus Post and gave me a stern warning about shipping DG items incorrectly (looks like eBay passed my details on to them). I was then forced to use a courier, the cheapest price was about $28 (arrhhhh). After a week or so I added a few more items like charcoal etc and eBay suspended me for 7 days as it was a dangerous goods item being shipped via Aus Post (ggggrrrrr).

7 days pass and I am back online again for a second attempt, trying to do the right thing by using a dangerous goods carrier. 1 week later I am at work and my wife rings me saying she just came home from taking my son swimming and the cleaner said a Inspector from the Department of Mines and an officer from the Qld Police Intelligence came to my house looking for me.

Cut a long story short, I rang the inspector and he gave me a stern warning advising me that I was not allowed to sell these items. There is more to it and I will post the info if anyone wants to know. Anyway, apparently the Aus Feds picked some of my listings up on eBay and it went from there.

So guys, I tried and I am proud of my efforts. But at the end of the day were are simply limited with what we can do and purchase...

Thanks to all of the people who emailed me with your kind words or support and sympathy...

By the way if you have a minute, check out my new site PyroWiki...

They can take away our tools but they can't take away our knowledge so share it...

Thanks Pepsi.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I have nothing to do with http://home.exetel.c...micalsolutions/

I wish the guy all the best and hope he has more luck than I did. All I can say is be careful mate, you might find they could come knocking on your door asking questions. There are obvious reasons why you don't find these kind of online shops in Australia like you do in the USA.

Anyway, best of luck....

Bl**dy 'ell they were pretty rough on you. I thought the UK had got paranoid, but that seems worse (then again there have been some bad incidents here).

Be interested to know what they said.

Sounds like aussie pyros are really persistent, despite the odds.

Basically at the time of making the call to the inspector I was sh#ting myself and because the adrenaline was pumping hardcore most of the conversation we had was not really absorbed. However from memory they wanted to know what I had and what the quantities were. Luckily for me I only had very, very small amounts (like 500g of copper powder, 250g of iron, 1-2 kilo of sulphur etc) of stock. He was basically wanting to know this because if you have over certain perscribed amounts you are required to be licensed, obviously I was way under. But the most important point he said was they can confiscate items you have if they believe it can be mixed together to make an explosive device (or something like that). Also something along the lines if you sell items together for the purpose of it being used to make a explosive device (ie. sulphur and zinc) it is an offence.

Like I said earlier, I don't remember word for word what was said. He also wanted to know if I was selling fireworks, and obviously the answer was no. Even if there was any bluffing going on I did not really want to argue and considered myself lucky with a verbal warning.

In my opinion during these times it is best to keep the hobby to yourself. There is a market for selling pyro stuff but as we all know (in Aus anyway) it is very illegal to manufacture anything of the sort. Not forgetting the fact that delivery of the goods is a real problem unless you are happy paying big bucks for couriers. So basically your hampered from all sides. And I bet you it won't be long before the US is in the same situation we are in.

Anyway, I will leave it at that because this post and my previous ones are not really related to the forum topic of posting pyro sources in Aus.

Thanks and look after those fingers :D

I have forgetten what this post even started about I think its more of a place where Aus people can just post small things really without starting a new topic "probably get flamed for that comment" I mean its gone from chlorate cells to purity of nitrate, where to get sodium boenzoate etc.
I was also the one that bought the Kno3 from you, or one of. its kinda different to this new stuff I have.

Hi littlejohny, wow this is really cool actually speaking to some of my previous customers (hope your eBay transaction with me was smooth :-)

Why is it different, the KNO3 that is ? Basically the stuff I was selling is exactly Haifa Chemicals Multi-K, worked fantastic for me :-) Does it look different or perform differently... just curious.

Hey Guys,

Just a small introduction Im a fellow Aussie pyro from Tas and I will be posting here in the near future :)
Took close to 2 months to get validated but Im here now. From what I can see this would have to be the most active community of Aussies anywhere on the web. Just a little run down on my experience:

-years of rocket making
-good experience with aerial shells, fountains, mines, stars
-good home setup with ball mill, hydraulic press, screens, dies etc.
-chems wouldnt be too far off anyone else in aus (no KCLO4)

So yeah thats me in a nutshell!

Hey
I am also new, from regional NSW. I signed up here about one month ago. My experience is very small so I've just been reading for awhile and made a couple of fountains, that's about it.

Hi Guys,

Nice to meet you all. There seems to be a fair bit of interest in model rocketry and pyrotechnics these days, which is great to see. Just curious as to how many people here are from NSW? It would be great to have some kind of pyrotechnics function organized. It's easy enough to arrange a single use event permit, so we could even have displays. Just fodder for the mind...

my friend: What's that?

Hi All,

We just received some purim Potassium Perchlorate. It's not the TG that's we've been waiting for, but it is the absolute best I could do right now. It's quite expensive, but it's all I could get given I'm still paying off the TG and will be for another month I estimate. I just ordered it for a couple of the die hard's who really needed it, though it is a first come, first served situation.

Hi all,

Just letting you know that we are doing a 10% off for 24hrs type sale. It begins tonight (30/3) at 8pm until tomorrow night at 8pm. It's kind of a Perchlorate fundraiser if you will - just trying to clear the bill off a little more quickly. Also, the current purim grade Perchlorate is included in the 10% off (limit of 100g per person though).

Hi Chemical Solutions

I appreciate your new business venture and I know you are excited for business (I have been there and done that) but please respect the forum rules...

2) Posting of any form of advertising, promotions, or links to incite commercial gain are forbidden. Posts outside the scope of this forum shall be deleted.

If you want to advertise your products or sale promo's you must do it outside this forum.

Also, like I said above mate in previous posts be careful. I can bet you and anyone who is buying from you the authorities are watching. Just like eBay they have triggers on websites. You start selling (per)chlorates and they will come knocking on your door asking why you have these chemicals... Please, please be careful and be smart about how you promote yourself. Don't leave yourself open like I did and potential end up in heaps of trouble. Like I said before, I know because they came knocking on my door asking questions... lucky I was not home.

Anyway, not being b!tchy as I am not in competition with, just wanting the advice to sink in. All I can say is good luck and learn from my mistakes...

See ya

Jamesy

Does anyone else just really not care anymore?

I am starting to smell a rat... well not true, the whole bloody thing has stank since these websites went up. The prices are a complete joke, the products are vapour-ware and you'd be a complete idiot to pay for things that you are likely never to see.

My advice for Australian pyros: Source or prepare your own damn chemicals. It isn't difficult.
