Li'l Johny
What brand is it? should be aroun 98% at least...
Pepsi

Yeah, 38% isn't really gonna work...

You sure it didn't say "38% Nitrogen" or NO2 or something similar? I'm guessing you got agricultural stuff...

Well I actually got someone else to get it for me, and they just gave me the bag and said it was 38% pure  I really didn't think it could be that low in purity, the brand is Haifa Chemicals Multi-K, greenhouse grade these are the specs

Nitrate-nitrogen N-No3 13.5%
Soluble potash K2o 36.2%
Pottasium K 38.6

I just read that than and I think thats where they got the idea of 38% pure, I didn;t think it could be so impure.

It will be fine, they're just quoting the Potassium %

Sounds like that's about 97.5% pure, going on the nitrate content. It's fine for BP.

I'll just re-crystallize it a few times to get it fairly pure ;) , but i'm not even going to open the bag until I finish my ball mill, getting frustrated at how hard it is to find parts for it

You're really going through a whole lotta hassle for nothing recrystallising that just for BP. It's already plenty pure enough to work just fine as is. Sure, purer will be faster, but not noticably so. Quite likely not even measurably so, all other things being equal.

Your charcoal quality makes a much larger difference, anyway, so if you're really concerned about getting optimum performance and willing to spend a lot of effort in pursuit of it, you're most likely better off spending your time on that...

I'd like to see how balsa charcoal goes i've read in a lot of places it's better than good willow, balsa is fairly expensive though.

:D Isn't this funny :D I had a lookon the bottom of the bag of KNO3, wouldn't believe where its made, Israel

I agree as well! Focus on the charcoal and you will get a higher level of improvement for your effort!

Well I did a test last night to see how this new pottoasium nitrate goes

well I am very happy, There seems to be alot of pottasium as the flame was mostly dark purple with a little bit of yellow it also seems alot more "clean" than my other KNO3 :D

http://home.exetel.c...micalsolutions/ .. this is interesting

Prices are anything but competitive though, I have a hunch it may be the guy off ebay.

I second your hunch.

Also, the most flattering way you can describe his pricing practises is "enthusiastic". A more realistic description would be "viciously and savagely gouging with a boat-hook."...

It's not really much of an actual option. :(
