Has anybody got any experience of sending pyro by surface mail out of the UK? There is plenty of info around regarding importing by mail but very litte re exporting.
Alternatively - do any of our well travelled members know of a pyro supplier in Switzerland?

Post is a no no -postal rules prohibit flammables (but permit paper!) Most post has an air leg on its rote and pyros can't go by air. Then the multimodal road water train road route to the continent would be a MASSIVE expense for a few flashes.
Some German bands use a lot of pyro so there maybe a road transport route there but I don't even have names. In Germany stage pyro technicians have to hold a state licence so getting pyro bought by a Swiss national could be problematic.
Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

1.4s can go by air, in fact it is pretty easy and TNT offer a 1.4s air service.
Sorry I know this does not help for 1.4g Exat808. It may be worth a look for some 1.4s flash pots. I will have a word with my partner tomorrow to see if he knows of some 1.4s flash pots.
Cheers

Much appreciated Gareth.
They only need a small quantity but we are happy to purchase a sensible amount if required.

I have had an enquiry from a contact in Switzerland who is wanting some 1.4g flash pots for a forthcoming stage show.

Is it possible you could share that information?
The pyro will now be sourced in Germany via www.lmp.de
Their stock is all BAM approved by the German classification authorities which is recognised by the Swiss too.

Thank you to all who have replied and PM'd me.
Problem solved.
I'm glad you solved your chellenge Danny, speaking to former colleagues at Le Maitre yesterday while I was in Peterborough I understand that some of their flashpots are being reclassified as 1.4G, i gather this is the result of a re-think on the part of HSE and a sign of changing attitudes. Sourcing the material closer to home may be the best way.
