Good good!! Thanks for starting us off with wat is in its self is a great selection. As you are the first(apart from me) to offer a donation, I feel it best to see what others offer and whether or not the committee have any objections to any part of the planned raffle before we decide anything on volume perhaps a few shell case/tube selection packs would be the way to go.

Thanks again
Steve

Good idea Steve, for those of us who might not be able to go to the AGM, could I post some items to you for the raffle?

If it is allowable to have some Cat 3 in the raffle then I have a few bits that can go in (small cakes, rockets, a fountain or two etc). Let me know what word you get on the "live" front.

Thanks Bob. I haven't heard anything as yet from the committee. I'm guessing they'll have a bit of a chat about it during their next conference call thingy.

I'd love to see some live stuff their, but it is in a school hall, so it may not be allowed in the building. Although I'm sure their are ways round these things.

Perhaps an outdoor raffle. :lol:

I have no problem with the idea of the raffle. I think the only thing to be aware of is 9.—(1) of The Fireworks Regulations 2004 which states:

9.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2) below, no person shall supply or expose for supply any adult firework, save in accordance with a licence granted under this regulation.

(2) Paragraph (1) above shall not prohibit the supply or exposing for supply, otherwise than in accordance with a licence, of adult fireworks—(a)on the first day of the Chinese New Year and the three days immediately preceding it;
(b)on the day of Diwali and the three days immediately preceding it;
©during the period beginning on the 15th October and ending on the 10th November; or
(d)during the period beginning on the 26th December and ending on the 31st December.

I may be wrong, but I interpret the above as live fireworks in a raffle as a no-no. Anyone able to give a more definitive answer?

I think you could well be correct. Although i'm guessing the only persons likely to be donating live fireworks would be one of the many licensed firework suppliers in the UKPS so could be ok.

Alternatively perhaps they could donate gift tokens for said firework/fireworks.

Obviously if you are licensed to supply fireworks, then we should be OK I imagine!

Just to throw my two penny worth into the hat, technically running a raffle for societies nowadays can involve aquiring a `personal management license` or `operating license` under gambling commission regulations, so it maybe worth contacting them for advice on live fireworks as a prize.

Just spoken to a licensed firework supplier and he said that a voucher system would be best, and theirs no reason that he can see why they can't be redeemed on site.

Sounds reasonable to me !!!

That would according to my licencing officer cover retail not giving away of the fireworks and as your buying a ticket not the firework you win I take it to mean ok?

Just a quick note - the committee agreed this evening that we'll be providing free pizza / take-away for the designated volunteers supervising the site during the evening meal.

I've reserved space at The Star Inn in Woodstock for the dinner at 7:30 (ordinary pub fayre) and we'll no doubt return to the town centre after the display and clear-up for further networking and refreshments.
