Morons...

(I'm referring to the police that destroyed the model cannon, I doubt it was even proofed. Maybe they need to confiscate any metal pipe that is blocked at one end???)

Dr Thrust - have a look at these. They're not cheap but I'd love one as well.

Nice find sparky, I believe they are often sold without a touch hole, with the option of the new owner drilling a hole themselfs usually in the location of a punch mark handily placed by the manufacturer, although I have seen full size cannon for sale on eBay, it seems you can buy these things legally but not own them lol

I've always fancied my own cannon but I think I will get one of these smaller ones for fun. They come fully proofed with a touch hole, I've been considering it for months.

I would emagine that you could have one of these on a shot gun certificate,as long as the barrel is 24" or longer and no more than 2" bore you would be good to go.

I wonder how the re-enacters get on with licencing etc?

AFAIK there are re-enactors using cannons up to 14" bore. However these are properly registered weapons and held in approved storage under the appropriate regulations as "Shotguns" or "Firearms" according to the dimensions. Re-enactors also have a stringent test and examination regime for cannons which attempts to eliminate the possible misfires and barrel failures.

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

What about "thunder mugs"? You can buy them easily enough as a member of the general public if they where classed as a weapon you wouldn't be able to purchase them

This is one of those areas it's probably best not to delve into too deeply...!
