Iv just resently put this little unit together, the id is 7mm so im going to make some tiny shells.
maybe multi break hahahaha , maybe.
Iv got a few ideas but would like some from you guys.

You could use some of those minature theatrical maroon cases Cooperman has and make it a mini report cake!

Failing that just a straight forward comet cake would be quite an achievement!

Im thinking of a different effect for each shot, the last shot will be report, iv made a few 6mm crossetts but not that happy with them so will keep trying. a few different commets, a mine and a few tiny shells.
its definatly a challenge.

The Crossettes im making







Im having a bit of a problem with these, when they pop they just shatter (lots of bits), so the mission is on to find a really tuff Comp thats easy to pump a crossette with. crossettes can be a pain at the best of times but on a miniture scale its a whole new ball game.

Have you tried a parlon based comp. When those suckers dry they are as hard as stone. You'd more like pouring a cast rather than pressing though.

Also what do you use to break them?

I made a shell full of 3/8 crossetts once,and only once,time consuming and very fiddly.

have you tried resorcinal resin? I use it to make comets and they come out of the press ROCK hard and if allowed to harden a few hours in the warm are like stone!

Parlon is a no go, way to sticky messy clog everything up.
iv been trying alsorts, its down to the tiny 6mm crossettes not holding together, i will get their in the end.

Yeah the 15mm are fiddly enough, 6mm is a nightmare.

Phill i hadnt thought of using the epoxy, i may give it a go, did you have any problems with the comp sticking to the tooling after each press and what comps were you using.
im thinking of a glitter for the little crossetts, i wonder how much negative impact the epoxy would have.

Never had any issues with sticking to tooling as once youve rubbed 5% by weight into the comp its essentially dry already, no discernable stickiness or moisture, but it binds like superglue when consolidated well.

Ive a favourite which is based ona white star I modified as yes the resin can effect the stars nature sometimes. Usually a few % extra oxidiser compensates well though.

Cant rcall using it with glitters but it should be fine, not too fond of unprotected Mg or MgAl though, Al is fine from memory but any Mg content requires linseed oil coating first or they crack after hardening a few days later.
