this may not be new to some of you but i just came across it and thought it was interesting to see.

 

weco certainly seem to be making the most of automation

i have the same set up in my shed,interesting to see a peanut shell used for the heading,( the one shell i could never pull off) i thought most of these headers just had a plastic bag full of stars and burst, great tooling video, hand ramming will never seem the same again lol

I was talking to one of the guys at Star Fireworks in Bracknell a while ago about the difficulty they have importing salutes due to the classification of flash based salutes. I don't fully understand the legislation but it sounded to me like an opportunity to make these in the UK and it would make obtaining them easier.

 

Apparently Kimbolton make some but they are hugely expensive.

looks like they have a heavy investment in automation

 

investment is key, along with a quality product

 

this helps bring down the cost and produces consistant product

I went to Weco Pyrotecnik in Eitorf in 1997. They have invested a great deal of money since then. They certainly didn't have that much automation back then.

We could - but I guess it would likely require someone with the better part of £500K to invest to do it properly. Short of an enthusiast with a timely lottery win is that likely in the current economic climate?

With germanys ethos & economy based around a large sector of manufacturing throughout its history (like us once upon a time), to me its no suprise that companies like WECO are achieving success with good quality products that are semi automated/efficient, I just wish our government had the intelligence or foresight to invest in people & industry within the UK instead of arms/wars and wasted civil engineering projects like the high speed rail links (affordable for the rich only = will cost £30 bil and save how much on journey times?) to Leeds Manchester and Birmingham, then just imagine what a small proportion of the £52 million per day we waste paying to be in the EU would achieve if we were allowed to invest some of that money in R+D and in small start up manufacturing businesses & incentives.
