Well Sam. I don't know what to say. You've achieved so much in so little time, it only seems 2 minutes since you, your dad and me was stood on the field in Crew Kerne, and you were asking me questions. You've outshone any of my expectations, well done.

I think it's great that you have accomplished this, I don't know you but I'm guessing you are a 'young un'

However - you really should think carefully about what you want the world to see. There have been cases where people racing on motorbikes and that sort of malarkey have posted their videos on youtube and the like and have had a knock at the door.

Please don't think I am trying to stop you enjoying the hobby, but please do have a think about your cyber trail.

Ask yourself - if your hobby was shoplifting, would you film yourself doing it and post it on the internet for ALL to see.

It was alot of hard work, one thing im defiantly building is a pasting machine!

 

Also I noticed that some of the 2" shells were breaking as big as the 3" shells!

Thanks for your concern Martyn Im 18 so I think that counts as a 'young un'! I am aware of my cyber trail and try to be very careful about what I do post on-line

That was superb Sam, well done !

You've obviously been very busy.

Your shells look more professional than professional ones, that must have been weeks of pasting.

How are you synching the home brew firing system to the music, using time code, trigger pulses, or stopwatch & script ?

Great stuff Sam, very nice looking shells! I loved the use of cremoras for "Burn"

Was everything homebrew? Strobes and all?

Phil, I can program the firing system to 1 millisecond using a picaxe micro controller. I use the full "Game" version of finale fireworks to plan my display and get the timings I need, I then take the timings for the lift and fuse before the shells are fired off the time code and then sort out the gaps in-between which I program into the micro controller. Its not the easiest method but it works and having a 31 cue programmable firing system built for less than £100 is defiantly better than buying one for £900+

 

I'll get a video of the system soon, but it works off the pixace chip switching relays for a 12v bike battery. Simple but alot of wiring! Also had to wire alot of diodes in-between the relays and the chip.

Also I like to add the extra touch to my shows with the word painting as you were saying Bob about the use of cremoras for "burn"

Well done Sam, great job on the build and show mate.

its a shame we dont have some real pyro clubs in this country, we are driven to show off our pyrotechnical skills under the table , its all well and good if you want to set up and fire pro shows, join a pyro company and your complete, but if your a builder of pyro you have nothing but watch your back and do the secret sessions to fire your pyro.

i for one trust my pyro far more than the comercial stuff.

I'm on a gap year this year That's plan B If my vet career doesn't work out! (If I become a vet I can have lots of money to spend on pyro!) But if I dont get any Uni offers for vet my other choice is Chemistry at Surrey

Bp on hulls , 5-1  , the bp is made with kilmarnock willow and milled for around 6 hours , its very fast , also added was 2g of Pot N slow flash i was using it as prime for the strobes.
