Do your self a big favour and spend lots of money on several top quality, upto date books from American Firework News or Ron Lancasters Principles and practiceyou will be amazed how much you can learn especially on topics regarding your safety and chemical safety

Welcome Robert! I agree with you, I have Lancaster's book. It really is essential reading for any amateur.

If you have Principles and Practise. a little more practical book is Tom Perigans'Introductory Practical Pyrotechnics' not to expensive and covers from total beginner to intermediate.which gives a very good level of knowledge.up to 3" round shells .8" comes with experience!

I am wanting to buy some litrature, so i can find formulars easily and also figure out what different fireworks are and how to make them. I was thinking about buying Fireworks Principles and Practice, New 3rd edition, but since I don't have a credit card, I can't buy from the outside of the UK (Solo card). So does anyone know where I can get this book in the UK or ones like it.

Fireworks Principles and Practice 3rd edition is very good! I don?t know eny book if you just whant formulars but Best of AFN II, III, IV have som interesting formulas and is aimed for the amateur.
The Art, Sciense and Practise bu Shimizu have a lot of interesting reading and formulas that cover most of the amateurs needs. But the number of formulas are not as plenty as in "FPP 3rd Edition".

I first bought "FPP 3re Edition" and a few years after "Best of AFN II" and "The ASP" of Shimizu.

Yes I too would highly recomend Amazon. $170 (american) for FPP and ASP free shipping (atleast in the states). That is a very good deal. At skylighter both books would cost close to $200 without shipping.

Still have to purchase both of those though...

Best of AFN series is also good. I have III and am very pleased with it. Cant wait to get II and IV. The gabe mort story is rather amusing .

I would recomend Introductory Practical Pyrotechnics though as an introductory book. It is going to serve me well and get started the way I should have.

Not sure how much it is, but Kimbolton is the only UK source for Rev. R Lancasters book. I only found this out after bringing my book in from the States.

No WHsmiths sell the book to for ?80 pound dear in it. So i will try Kimbolton.

Sorry about that, I had been informed by Kimbolton that they were the only UK supplier... maybe WHSmiths has recently started to stock the book.

I doubt that they actually stock it. More likely, you tell them you want it, they google it, buy it, and sell it on to you. Probably Kimbolton is the only place in the UK that actually stocks it and sells it "first hand."

No they sell it look on there web site they have sold for quite a bit. They ship it in from US.
