Beach clean up sounds good, but I suggest we only burn driftwood the rest needs to be bagged up and disposed of properly.

If we could have the use of a MOD firing range for organised events would be good. I do not think it is out of the realms of possibles with the influence of the right people.

COME ON PEOPLE!

We dont bite, we really need new blood to come and say hi, not just the same old faces (who are obviously more than welcome too! )

I Live on the Border between West and North Yorkshire so reasonably North but its the middle of the country!

The train station is 200 yards from my house and 30 mins from Leeds station for those without cars

LOTS to do if we organise a meet and we need something to look forwards to!

Ill start a thread soon to get a list of those interested in attending and try to work a date into whatever's best for the group?

We could of course go for a wander down a canal. good time good beer (if there is still a pub anywhere) and finish up in a field with a firework or two.

Pick any canal with a field where we can fire something!

When younger i occasionaly had weekend out improptu barbies/ bonfires , coupled with a treasure hunt, generally for beer.
If enough we would have opposing teams forming raiding parties, predates paintball i suppose.

Beach bonfires ar looked on unfavorably these days.
One we had , water board oficcials turned up with brigade.
Cant have bonfires at my old sailing club anymore either.

Well we can have a fire at my place too (charcoal cooking on an open fire and all that) and camping as said before to save funds if required. Its also 25 yards from the leeds Liverpool canal if that "floats your boat" (couldn't resist sorry Arthur)

Only reason to suggest a canal is that it's inland so the coastguard isn't interested. Walk up the towpath for a few miles, have a beer then walk back collecting local rubbish to clear on a fire with fireworks in a field.

Fair point !!

We should probably set a date for this sooner rather than later. I know fireworks are legal till 11pm but lots of kids are usually in bed asleep a long time before that. Pissing people off with loud fireworks late at night isn't going to help our cause.

The clocks have gone forward already, in a couple of months it isn't going to be getting dark till 10ish.

If we leave it till after 'summer' we are going to struggle not to clash with the MLE firework competitions !!!
