That's interesting! I have a Mossberg 12 bore shotgun with a barrel less than 20 inches long. I wonder how it would be classified in the UK, or even if it would be permitted.
You would have to have it on your fire arms certificate rather than your shot gun certificate.
I used to have a eight shot pump action Mossberg a few years ago,great fun but it was a 20 inch barrel and open choke ,so it was not much of a hunting weapon

Yeah I'm very curious to see what he puts the cannon under. I've got 2 weeks holiday booked in August to sort my house out, clear out where I want things to go and he's coming over. For a visit I hope.

I have a black powder revolver also, a Pietta Remington replica, 36 caliber. It's fun to shoot, though it takes ten minutes to reload it. My main reason for having it is that the owner of a BP firearm may legally purchase and store up to fifty pounds of commercial black powder, no questions asked.
Actually, in the US black powder guns are not legally classed as firearms. You can buy them over the counter, or even by mail order, with no background checks or waiting period.

hi guys...in the uk since the 1988 firearms act amendments came into force shotguns with barrels shorter than 24" are section 5 prohibited weapons the same as handguns,semi automatic centrefire rifles and automatic weapons...curiously electric stunguns fall into this category as well

Yes but BP revolvers, muzzle loading guns, signalling cannons etc do not fall into that category, Please wait for my application to be complete and approved or denied and I'll fill you all in.
People need to stop freaking out over this. The law is there to prevent people using hand guns and sawn off shotguns to commit crime. Not to stop and old fart like me enjoying a toy cannon that weighs 35lbs and could not be used to commit a crime unless I was built like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anymore news on this Sparky? I am keeping a keen eye on your process as I have some old antique cannons here that at present don't require a license as they are S58 and for display but should I want to use them I would have to go down this very route.
