Hi,

I just have one simple question.

How can you create firwork to display a long trail just like the Red Arrows coloured smoke trails, at night.

Imagine the Red Arrows doing an airshow at night and want to dispay a trail just like the colored smoke trails which they use by day.

Can it be done? If so how? How long will the trail be and how long will it last?

Thanks & Regards,

Mike.

There are daylight shells with similar dyes to those used by the Red Arrows.

However, a dye smoke trail would have little visibility against a dark night sky.

Comet roman candles are available in most colours and we have red, white and blue in stock.

Comet roman candles will be available from a firework shop near to you, in cat4 there may be single shot comets as both in tube single shot and cat 4 comet for firing from mortar.

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

Coloured phosphorescent smoke, it's an intriguing idea. Perhaps a spray of finely dispersed white phosphorous, a fine suspension in water, like milk? As the water evaporated the phosphorous would ignite giving off light and white smoke, which could be tinted by dye in the water.

It sounds impossibly dangerous and toxic. Somebody, somewhere, probably used it as an anti-personnel weapon in war, and if you try it you may end up at The Hague.
