Hi All,

 

Just to let you know, I've now received my precursor licence so the system is up and working. 

 

I've also been lucky enough to receive the first licence ever issued

wayne will be the best man to explain but basically you'll want two pieces of paper, coer for the acquiring or acquire and keeping of any BP based comp and flash, and separately the precursor licence to be able to buy and store the chemicals used.

 

I for one am with the new system as it now gives us clear guidelines to stay within and therefore the law too :-)

My COER1 application form was posted off today

My COER went off last week and the EPP will be being done in due course. Let's hope this keeps things extremely clear as to what's required to be an experimental pyrotechnician

Where do you get the coer applications from?  I am in stoke-on-trent / staffs.  tbh I was waiting for the guidance notes being published soon before taking the next step (epp has already been applied for).

Just a question: how do you know it was the first? Or do you have third party information? 

 

A licence number 1, but I was informed by my contacts at the HO before it was issued

 

Any progress at your end with getting couriers to perform the licence verification or with personal collections?

I did think of scanning it in for people to see but decided not to for obvious duplication/counterfeiting reasons.

 

But, I can say:

• Its paper
• It shows your:
  • licence number
  • name & address
  • Photo ID number (passport in my case)
  • Valid from date
  • Valid to date
• Signed and stamped by authorising person.
• It lists the restricted chemicals your authorised to acquire/possess showing:
  • Chemical name
  • Quantity allowed
  • Intended use/max concentration
  • Storage address
  • Usage address

 

The form to be completed by chemical suppliers has the columns:

 

• Supplier name
• Product and restricted substances
• Quantity
• Sales assistance name
• Signature of sales assistant
• Date

Within reason, there is no defined limit (common sense though, 100's of kg's wouldn't accepted!).  I requested 5kg for each chemical and it was granted.  I guess I could have put 10kg, but 5 seems enough.

Just be honest and put anything that fits your particular use of the chemicals...In my case, "Experimental pyrotechnics substance and article manufacture"
