It`s depressingly quiet in here for the time of year. A bit like a visit to the morgue! :(

There seems to be a few regular frequenters but not a lot of discussion topics popping up. I'm waiting on my ELO visit for A&K then EPP and I'll be good for a lot of topics on how to go about things.

Several of the "usual suspects" have created their own pyro companies and are already working towards a 5th Nov season. This really isn't a time of year when they have time to do forums all day! Wait for Jan/Feb/march!

Awaiting my visit for A&K too. But I think it could be up to a 12 week wait.

I haven't even had the call yet but I only sent my application in on the 19/09. I have however gotten myself a proper BP storage box as per the guidance so hopefully it will be plain sailing once I have my visit.

The activity in the forum has slowed significantly over the last few years due to the uncertainty over the legality of the experimental pyro.  As we know, as of the 1st of October, we have now confirmed that there is a framework in which fully legal experimentation can take place.  Due to this, its going to take time for people to catch up with the requirements (A&K, EPP, storage, workshops to organise), but eventually I'm certain things will wake up.

I'm a perfect example.  My experimentation has been mothballed for close to 6 years as I worked through the ELR and got us to where we are now.  Being the person involved with the process, I didn't want to jeopardise the anything by continuing any experimentation until things were set in stone so I stopped all experimentation.  Things are different now!  I have everything in place (A&K, EPP, Storage), but with Nov 5th coming up, I'm a little busy elsewhere.  Post the 5th, I intend to get my workshop sorted out and then things are good to go.

All in all, expect a whole lot more activity in the society and the forum as a whole quite soon.  Keep the faith all!

All A&K, but remember my cert was issued before ER 2014, ie, no requirement to list flash...

I was more thinking of drying stars might be a problem on acquire only as the regs say acquire not to be kept overnight.

You are best with A&K if you can, but there is an argument that drying isn't storage as its still an ongoing manufacturing process.  This is one of the grey areas still remaining, when does drying become storing?

Unless the star is classed as BP, the storage element shouldn't be of concern (as longs as its <=100g).  Drying BP pucks would fall into this category, but I would assume that if you are drying BP for making experimental devices, you would want to "keep".

Just apply for A&K not A.

I applied for keep BP and then we were discussing flash and pyro comps upon his visit and he went away to to get more info then I received an acquire application that I was requested to fill in. So I filled that just stating <100g pyro comp and flash. Only retuned that one at the beginning of the week so a bit soon yet. I was just concerned about drying stars that will  not be used until they are ready. BP seems pretty clear now though.

If you can meet the "keep" requirements, there's no reason not to apply to keep.

But by saying that, there are no keep requirements for <100g are there? So should it not be A&K for all but with <100g limits for flash and pyro comp but up to the 10kg limit for BP? I hope I haven't cocked up asking for the wrong thing.

Maxman - have you been granted your A&K for BP then based on the experimental pyrotechnics reasoning now then?
