.What if I constructed a small basic pyro workshop  suitable for amateur use under MSER with a large private remote gated testing field alongside it  How many people are close enough to be interested in the use of this hobby facility ??    ie ball milling , presses , star rollers and dryers

I believe the offer of the venue is subject to whether or not there is crops in the field maybe we could make a concerted effort to get a decent number of people together for a meet in say March next year.

Well, it's disappointing that the pyro day isn't going ahead, to say the least, and I guess that the cancellation makes it less likely that something similar will be organised in the future. I am slightly confused though, is the day cancelled due to lack of interest or is it cancelled because there's still crops in the field?

 

If it's that the low numbers make it impossible to cover the costs, perhaps such a thing could go ahead if attendees were to contribute to the costs?

 

I have no idea what it costs to stage such an event but surely, it's easy for someone who does know to calculate a contribution based on the number of attendees, say if 10 attend, 20 and so on?

The event was cancelled/postponed due to the lack of confirmed attendees. Apparently the fields are crop free over the winter, during this time we have been offered use of them and part of a small holding for parking camping etc. We set a lower limit for attendees for the simple reason that we considered it would be a lot of aggravation, especially for the people organising the event, for just a few people to attend. The venue was offered for free as it has been before so it's not a question of cost. We set a lower limit of 10 members we only actually got 4 members the other confirmed  attendees were staff most of whom would be running the event.

 

It would be great to get something together for March but we need people to commit to attend....

What is needed for a venue in so far as space and facilities?

I have a friend who owns land and is very much a supporter of my hobby. The land is primarily woodland but borders fields and has a dirt track road as access etc.

If it is just private land and a sympathetic land owner required it might be a possible site but PM if you think it's worth further investigation.
