Hi all

I have tons of sawdust but I'm not having much success making wood meal with it. Any suggestions on the best way of making your own?

Cheers

Lol you are right but nothing easily obtainable is fine enough. Classic sawdust isn't really dust, more like small chips.

Yup and it partially works but it doesn't do a very good job. It's almost as if the sawdust I have is too soft and doesn't get chopped up any further.

Maybe ball mill it with course sand, then drop it in water to separate the sand and wood dust then dry the wood dust out. Bit of a pain in the nads but it might work.

I think it needs to be fine from the start, from fine sanding as apposed to sawing.

Our saviours : In the ninth century, a team of Chinese alchemists trying to synthesize an "elixir of immortality" from saltpeter, sulfur, realgar, and dried honey instead invented gunpowder.

A alternative way of obtaining it would be to pay a visit to a joinery workshop and ask for a bag of wood dust and then sieve it at home for the fines you need.

Thanks all, you have confirmed what I thought. I think I'll get the sander out and create some of my own that way.
