Yeah, I think I saw your post on UKFR as well and no responses yet if that was you. Having said that, a load of crew are still recovering from Plymouth so may not have seen it yet.

Hi Dave, do they definitely have to have no wire? I found some very cheap igs on ebay.COM from China (37 for $4.80) which worked out to £3.13 with free shipping (8.5p each). They do come with 30cm of wire though.

Just to be safe your aware that you'd require a cad certificate for the importation of these from China?

Hi Cooperman, I wasn't aware, thanks for the heads up. Best to stick to UK suppliers!

CAD - Competent Authority Document. The form issued by HSE to confirm that the firework complies with approvals for import to the UK for either domestic or professional use.

In this case it's not even a firework cad as igniters are on the articles pyrotechnic locef database rather than the firework one.

Correctly marked for shipping/freight a box of wired igniters has very little explosive content, because the wire takes up space. Correctly labelled, a box of igniter heads would be much more NEC for parcel weight, which can make shipping difficult.

Well that comes more down to the designation given during classification. Some items can be sent by standard methods when correctly labeled and imported legally. Others require specialist transport.

If they are shipped from the uk and cadded appropriately for the shipping method used then this can be legal but again if it's from outside the uk it's definitely illegal to import them.

Safe and reliable E-matches can be easily assembled from scratch at home for pennies.

Whilst I understand that a commercial/display technician requires hse approved items, its beyond me why any amateur experimenter would waste money/resources so needlessly/frivolously.

As a true amateur myself I try to souce or create as many of the items I need from non-commercial sources.

For me thats half the fun!

But as earlier stated. I completely understand the need for a commercially available product for the professionals amongst us.

Best regards, Dodge
