Reading an article on the demise of counsel funded firework displays http://www.theguardi...ht-uk-austerity

One readers comment:

I remember when I was a kid
my dad would climb on the roof with a box of matches
as he lit and threw a match in the air
my mother would slap her slippers together
it was probably the worse run council display in the country..

Freud. Artists, in this view, are people who may avoid neurosis and perversion by sublimating their impulses in their work.

With the demise of central Government funding for Local Authorities I expect that things more strategically important than fireworks displays will also suffer.

Next year, with the 5th being a Saturday both of the adjacent weekends will be a full week away from "the day" and the weekend before will be before halloween. How many shows can the industry safely put up on one day? Will there be enough clients?

I have just signed in for the first time in years to say I had a great laugh out of this comment.

I would imagine that demand may exceed supply, there is only so many shows that you can get out on one night.
