To be held on 23 April at Crewkerne George Reynolds centre from 12 noon until after the firework display that evening. There will be buffet, tea coffee and bar available.

It will be an informal affair as things stand, apart from the presentation of accounts that do not take long.

We are looking for speakers to do a talk on the day, last minute I know. We also need directors to attend even if they intend to stand down on the day.

I look forward to meeting you all, members new and old. Do try and come along.

Vic

Membership secretary

It is with regret to announce that the AGM at Crewkerne is cancelled.

Hi Vic, it was a little short notice, are there plans for an AGM at all this year?

We're just waiting for the election deadline Digger so we can organise the AGM with or without a vote depending on if it's necessary

Can I ever-so politely ask why Kenneth's post was deleted?

Granted it wasn't constructive, but it wasn't offensive either.

OK, so he's not a ukps member, but he is a forum member and entitled post in an open forum.

Seems a bit ott :)

Edit, I'm not one of Kenneth's cronies by the way, I've no idea who he is other than he's connected with the pyrotubes forum and is known to OB's Alex, whom I know to be a decent chap.

As it was deleted and not hidden, I cannot see a "reason" associated with the moderation but we have taken a zero tollerance approach now to unhelpful or negative posts that are inappropriate. So this is my assumption.

In context within a discussion it is obviously understandable there will be differing opinions that are welcome to be expressed in a constructive manner but as the aggressive, derogatory or simply unhelpful comments we've constantly had for some time is the first point every single member and forum user has expressed their strong dislike off we have taken a strong stance on it to make the forum a nicer place to be.

Some people may disapprove of the actions needed to make the forum a more pleasant space but the decision wasn't taken lightly and we feel it is now the right stance to adopt.

I do hope this is however supported and understood by all our users as in our best interest and not intended as any form of censorship.

The only issue we have is that we are requiring posts to be proactive. The atmosphere on here has been problematic so we intend to stop this occurring. Posts that are unhelpful or do not contribute towards this goal will be removed.

I agree sadly the forum has and is is in decline but the single common comment from those that frequent it is that the atmosphere is unfriendly so we're doing something about that with this step.

The moderator could reply that they removed an unhelpful post and therefore reduced the negativity. The volume that speaks is that we are proactively making effort to stop the negativity on the forum.

I'll also point out that I don't see posts of this nature on other forums so the need to remove them isn't required elsewhere. Were someone to start posting material similar to that we have had to endure on those forums I'm firmly in the belief that a similar policy would be implemented

The other issue here is we claim to nothing special here, we dont and I believe never have claimed to do anything someone else couldn't. However we have actually done things others haven't.

If someone dislikes the policy we have adopted please simply refrain from using the forum as then no posts need be removed by admin and that would be my preferance.
