My suggestion of a spark plug is just that, 1/ a suggestion and 2/ a source of ignition. It will allow you to chose when to see whether the gas content of your system as it runs is explosive or not, at a time of your choice (when you are standing back not too close for comfort!).
Gasifiers have a poor throttle response, they work better for tractors doing hours (acres) at a steady speed. Perhaps the usual road driving variability of the inlet manifold flow rate and pressure causes undesired pressure and flow rate variation in the gasifier.

This guy does reference the corrosive nature of the system. Anyway they are only usable if you have a whole hillside of trees to burn, in which case NOW I'd look at a fixed steam engine making electricity and charging lithium batteries in the car
Most of the USA based vids ignore the fact that WW2 was the hayday of the gazogene in Europe and there was bulk production of gasifiers in several countries, and try to reinvent the wheel.
