I assume you mean get an epp licence as there is no licence required for experimenting with amateur pyrotechnics other than for acquiring or possessing epp's.
Much fun can be had without these. Obviously you will need an a&k and / or ao, but again not a licence

I am more than aware that we do not need a license as such for amateur experimentation only. Without an EPP licence, many of the key chemicals needed to really make the most of amateur pyrotechnics or general chemistry are out of reach.
If I had not applied I would have not been able to continue at all really, Also if you are known to the authorities it's better that you can be eliminated from the 'shadows' and let them spend their time looking for real issues.
Minor experiments can be done with alternative oxidisers but unless you stick to strontium and potassium nitrate and a few others I would say you are missing out and worse still making more unstable compositions due to not being able to access the appropriate chemicals.
Can you suggest how you are likely to obtain the chemicals needed for many of the compositions that are commonly used without taking the step to licensing?
How do you gain greater credibility and respect within government and thus better social accepability, people are hard pushed to accept all of this type of thing and whilst I don't really care what joe public thinks of me personally for all of this I do not want to be at odds with the world if there is a better way.
Before getting my EPP I would have to keep answering questions from people I know and I could tell they were still unsure.
Now I can explain that I am licensed by the Home Office they are left more intrigued than worried. Also geuss what?.......... ..........they might even want to get involved themselves!!!!!
How can you practice17th, 18th an 19th century chemistry as I do without Licenseable chemicals?..............Hardly!

I started this post as a way of letting the wider world know there is a way in to all this in my area and I am here to encourage that. It is fine asking questions but how about posting something about what is happening in your area and encouraging folk there to join you?
The AGM?? Try reading the posts in that section. it does not take much to get the drift really.
. Seriously, I know we all started somewhere but we must streamline what we do to keep within the guidelines. There is more room than you think but not as much as you may like!
