Thegreenman - Ball Mill
Worth saying that the large grey milling jar (which can do 600gm of BP at a time) weighs in at over 10kg with a full charge of lead balls, so would not want to go much bigger!
PS
Noticed there were some cheap Parvalux motors going on Ebay:-
Ebay - Craigs Engineering
Et al - Look suitable for ball mill or star roller

hi for that size of barrel you will need 20mm ceramic media, or 12 mm brass rod cut up,or 12mm to 20mm lead balls, but i suspect by the time you have filled the barrel with media/comp your tumbler will only handle one barrel comfortably! i know i bought a four barrel Joby and it struggles its b*lls off
thanks for your reply, but how many of lead balls must i use?i mean the capacity.thanks

The amount of composition for a full charge is that which would quarter fill the drum.
I'm sure you can work out how much that is by some formula, but much easier to just fill it up until a ruler shows it's half full...

Pipipi it really is time for you to actually try to fill the mill and see how many balls it takes, and how much powder it takes.
Yes but to fill all the jar with media or half media and half powder?i don't understand your answer, sorry

-Pour out the media.
-Fill jar with powder until it is 1/4 full of powder per volume.
-Put media back into jar.
-Voila

hi heres a vid of the ball mill i constructed from page four of this thread, its my first ever video so bear with me on the dodgy commentary , homemade v rock tumbler
Thats one sweeeet looking mill chris . I'm off to the carboot tomorrow lol.
By the looks of it it's turning at around the speed of mine, do you know the RPM of your jars. I didn't do the math (and still haven't) when i made mine, but it still kicks ass
