I could be looking for some dozen or so delays of 0.25 to 1.0 seconds, Has anyone any really good ideas please?  (NOT electric)

I'd ram my own Spollettes with a fast powder.  You could make several with a 100g batch under a straight BP acquire and keep.

 

Failing that, fast visco is pretty consistent :

PL6 or PL10 in either shrink wrap or glued into a tube? PL6 would have a mechanical advantage for the very thin ones at 0.25s as there’s a lot less chance of a blow through?

Look for Pyro clock it works great and yes it is available in the UK.
